2023 Korea Fall Foliage Forecast
Following the warmth of summer, the crisp autumn breeze in Korea paints the trees in a vibrant array of colors. Seoraksan Mountain will witness the onset of this year’s initial foliage on October 1, with the nationwide peak expected from late October to early November.

Notably, Bukansan Mountain will reach its peak on October 30, Jirisan Mountain on October 27, Naejangsan Mountain on November 6, and Hallasan Mountain in Jeju on October 29. The first foliage season is marked when 20% of the trees have transitioned, while the peak is defined when 80% have transformed.
In Seoul, popular tourist spots for enjoying the autumn hues include Gyeongbokgung Palace, Seoul Forest, Olympic Park, and Maeheon Citizen’s Forest. The Deoksugung Palace’s Stone Wall Path and Myeongnyundang Lecture Hall of Sungkyunkwan University boast remarkable golden ginkgo leaves.
Outside Seoul, renowned fall foliage destinations encompass Hwadam Botanic Garden, Nami Island, Yeoju Gangcheon Resort, and The Garden of Morning Calm. Mountains renowned for their picturesque autumn scenery include Bobaljae Hill in Danyang, Oksunbong Peak in Jecheon, Ginkgo Forest in Hongcheon, Jangtaesan Mountain in Daejeon, Independence Hall of Korea in Cheonan, Baegyangsa Temple in Jangseong, and Bulguksa Temple in Gyeongju.
