The Department of Tourism (DOT) has launched the second phase of the Save Our Spots (SOS) campaign, dubbed “Keep the Fun Going,” in an effort to encourage tourists to travel in an environmentally sustainable manner.

The campaign builds on the success of the SOS phase one campaign, which was started in 2019 to teach tourists how to be responsible tourists. “Keep the Fun Going” is a gamified challenge that attempts to not only educate but also urge travelers to participate in sustainable tourism activities.

“The Department of Tourism has been incorporating sustainable tourism ideas into its projects, programs, and regulations, even involving tourists in the process.” “Through the SOS campaign, we hope to increase awareness about responsible tourism and underline that every tiny gesture goes a long way toward ensuring that future generations benefit from and enjoy nature’s bounty,” Tourism Secretary Berna Romulo-Puyat said.

The Philippines is home to some of the world’s most diverse ecosystems and animals, which are threatened by climate change as well as human hazards such as overtourism and environmental neglect.
