Concert Recap
DHRUV Got Us Hooked And Left Us Wanting More
“Short and sweet” is what best describes singer-songwriter dhruv’s first concert in Manila.
Short because of his still limited discography, which he candidly acknowledged during his concert in Manila last July 25, 2023 at The Podium Hall. Sweet because of his warm honey of a voice which was ever present in all of the songs he performed.
From the moody “Airplane Thoughts” and “Stable Life” to the upbeat “Blur”, his performances complimented the rainy weather Manila have been having lately.
“Thank you for inviting us to be here and to play in this cozy, intimate show. I wanted to be here for a seconds. Throughout this project Rapunzel, in January of last year, it was like a scrapbook of the two years of my life. I remember thinking I really want to come to Asia and play it eventually and not knowing what was gonna happen so I had the joy of being in Asia. I’m thrilled to see you guys here.”
After recounting his experiences touring in Asia for the first time, Dhruv treated the audience to a performance of one of his personal favorites, the heartfelt track “moonlight.” Additionally, he delighted the crowd with another captivating rendition of “What’s Wrong With Me.” Not only does Dhruv possess an extraordinary singing voice, but he also exudes a commanding stage presence. His innate ability to connect with the audience resonated deeply with his supporters, fostering an intimate and memorable atmosphere.
The artist went on to share a poignant memory from his upbringing in Asia, recalling how, at the age of 15, he discovered a soul-stirring song titled “When We Were Young.” During the performance, Dhruv beautifully conveyed the essence of this song, reflecting on his own childhood spent in Singapore before moving to London at the tender age of two.
Continuing with the showcase of his talent, Dhruv mesmerized the crowd with more offerings from his latest EP, enthralling the audience with tracks like “Vulnerable.” He also sang a cover of Norah Jones’ “Don’t Know Why” much to the delight of his fans.
Throughout the show, he demonstrated an impressive range of musical styles. From soulful ballads that tugged at the heartstrings to upbeat tracks that had the entire venue swaying, Dhruv’s versatility as an artist shone brilliantly, leaving a lasting impression on all who were fortunate enough to witness his performance.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Dhruv concert without him performing his viral hit song “Double Take”, which we don’t mind having a double serving of any time of the day. Dhruv assured fans that there will more music in store for us in the future and we’re here for it.
