The Department of Transportation And TikTok Have Launched The #SarapMagingPinoy Campaign To Promote Local Food Tourism

The Department of Tourism (DOT) and Tiktok, a video-making and sharing app, have launched #SarapMagingPinoy, a campaign to urge citizens to celebrate Filipino pride by sharing favorite foods from all over the nation and to inspire a renewed interest and passion for local cuisines.

Since its premiere on June 1, the ad has gotten excellent feedback from TikTok users, receiving more than 35 million views.
Various content creators from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao were tapped to post footage of handmade recipes and dishes on the TikTok platform as part of the #SarapMagingPinoy campaign, with each video displaying local produce and the archipelago’s different cooking styles. Some movies even included home cooks creating the dishes while filming in the gorgeous locations where the recipes gained popularity.
“Food is an important component of Filipino culture since it shows our heritage and diversity. Food, moreover, is what brings us closer to our family, friends, and community. “Whenever we travel, we travel for food,” said Department of Transportation Secretary Berna Romulo-Puyat.
The #SarapMagingPinoy initiative is a type of crowd-sourced community food mapping that involves correlating food with culture and a specific destination in order to generate captivating travel stories that include food as an important component of the journey.
Users can still participate in the #SarapMagingPinoy campaign by uploading till June 15, 2021.
