Juknokwon is a bamboo forest located in Damyang, South Jeolla Province. It’s also known as the “Bamboo Garden” and has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2013.

The Bamboo Garden includes three significant areas: Jukdo (Jukdo Island), Nokbongsan Mountain, and Bokdam Mountain.

Juknokwon Damyang Bamboo Forest

Juknokwon Damyang Bamboo Forest is the largest bamboo grove in Korea. You can begin your hike down a paved trail that winds through an incredibly diverse bamboo ecosystem from the parking lot.

Various flowers, fruits, and mushrooms grow in the forest, which produces enough oxygen for over 2000 people on an average day. This massive area of green offers hiking, bird watching, cultural programs, and even large-scale musical performances for visitors.

Even though it’s fall season in Korea

Despite being autumn in Korea, the Bamboo Forest is still absolutely stunning. The colors of the trees and leaves make for a fantastic backdrop to your photos. Go during any time of day to capture different lighting and shadows on the bamboo stalks.
