Korean Unscripted Shows to the World On Netflix
Reality and variety programs are among the most popular forms of entertainment in Korea, and with Netflix’s expanding unscripted selection, we’re seeing global audiences and K-Content enthusiasts discover these innovative, one-of-a-kind titles.
This year, Netflix will distribute at least eight Korean non-scripted programs, which is double the amount released in 2017. Our dedication to production and innovation places Netflix at the forefront of the global distribution of unscripted Korean series.
Today, we are happy to share a first glimpse at our expanding lineup of unscripted programming. Members will be able to experience a new unscripted program every month or two. The schedule features a wide array of topics, including relationships, physical endurance, mind games, and zombies.

New regulations, new setting, and a new “Inferno”
To begin with, we’re bringing back the popular dating reality show Single’s Inferno for a 3rd season, with rule and venue tweaks to spice up the romantic roulettes.
When we received the Single’s Inferno proposal at the end of the year 2020, there were not many Korean dating programs. We intended to reduce the gap locally but ended up gaining fans worldwide. The first season was the first unscripted Korean television program to appear on the Global Top 10 Non-English TV list. This year, Season 2 was listed in the Global Top 10 for four consecutive weeks and garnered even more viewing hours.
Innovative twist on the familiar
A distinguishing feature of our unscripted series is that, unlike other television networks that air a new episode every week, the full season is completed before the premiere. This allows us to give a greater level of quality and localized subtitles, as well as dubbing in some regions, so that viewers in over 190 countries can watch the show simultaneously.
Courtship and survival Reality television formats are popular over the world, and we have given them our own unique stamp. Nineteen to Twenty is a reality program with a never-before-seen format that will bring back romantic memories of your childhood.
Physical: 100 and Siren: Survive the Island still
Physical: 100 is presently ranked second on our global list of the top ten non-English language television series, and is featured in the top ten in 62 countries worldwide. We are about two weeks away from determining the winner. Following that will be Siren: Survive the Island, in which teams of Korea’s strongest women from various backgrounds (professions) compete to survive on a desolate island.
The Devil’s Plan still
Due to our dedication to preserving the vision of the creator, we’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with some of Korea’s most talented unscripted showrunners and creatives. Jeong Jong-yeon, who pioneered mind-game-based survival programs in Korea, is the creator of our next series The Devil’s Plan.
Zombieverse still
And because Korea is known for its zombies, we decided to take the genre to another level with Zombieverse, in which contestants battle for survival as zombies invade Seoul. To make the set more realistic, we enlisted the assistance of the art department from All of Us Are Dead, while the choreographers from Kingdom taught the zombies.
We will also debut our first unscripted mid-form program. We will be able to deliver timely and relevant issues to our members with a half-hour running length and an extremely quick production time of three months.
We’re devoted to producing must-watch entertainment for diverse audiences in Korea & around the world, and we’re ecstatic to see our growing roster of unscripted series gaining new admirers everywhere.
