Additional intriguing activities were disclosed at a press lunch sponsored by the Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) at the Midas Hotel in Pasay City to lure even more Filipinos to visit their US island neighbor. This year’s campaign, dubbed #instaGuam, attempts to promote Guam as an island paradise with commercial delights and comfy luxury. Its history and culture are also similar to those of the Philippines. With world-class resorts, family-friendly attractions, and fascinating creative offerings unique to the Chamorro culture, Guam hopes to entice more Filipinos to its shores by 2020. Most importantly, they will all be built in a way that is sustainable and respectful to Guam’s environment, culture, history, and people.

Guam’s popularity as a tourist destination continues to rise. Arrivals from the Philippines grew by 8.6% in December 2019, from 19,092 in 2018 to 20,729 in 2019. * Relaxation, shopping, and pleasure are the main reasons given by Filipinos for visiting Guam.

The #instaGuam campaign, which runs through 2020, encourages everyone to attempt these activities the next time they visit Guam:

Climb the world’s tallest mountain. On this delightful trip, you won’t need to bring any oxygen tanks or cold-weather clothing. Mount Lamlam is only 1,332 feet above sea level, yet its peak is 36,070 feet below the surface, making it the highest peak in the world.

Make a splash with a variety of water activities. Scuba diving is a great way to spend a day. Jet ski across the ocean’s surface. Dare to slide 50 feet down Tarza Water Park’s slides. Take a river cruise down the Talofofo River.

Take a trip to the ancient site. There’s animals to see and historic Chamorro culture to learn about at Ritidian Point.
