The Philippines won the bid to host the Worldchefs Asian Presidents Forum in 2023. This was thanks to the work of the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) Philippines and the LTB Philippines Chefs Association.

Chef Willment Leong, who is the Continental Director for Asia for the World Association of Chefs Society (WORLDCHEFS), made the official announcement on August 6, 2022, at the SMX Convention Center during the Philippine Culinary Cup award ceremony.

“Over the years, the government and private companies have put a lot of money into improving Meetings, Incentive Travel, Conventions, and Exhibitions (MICE) infrastructure all over the country. And now we have everything we need to host the Worldchefs Asian Presidents Forum next year. “This is a great chance for the Philippines to become known as the best place for food in Asia,” said TPB COO Maria Anthonette Velasco-Allones.

The Worldchefs Asian Presidents Forum is a three-day event that aims to bring chefs from the Asia-Pacific region closer together through programs like showing the latest food trends, sharing information about how to cook in a sustainable way, and learning more about how to cook.

The forum will bring together 30 delegates from different chef associations in Asia and the Pacific. About 3000 people are expected to attend, including professional chefs who will take part in the programs, competitions, and exhibits. People who go will also get to see the local markets in the Philippines and get a taste of how the country’s food and culture are unique and varied.

Now that borders have reopened worldwide, the Philippines’ MICE sector is ready to return to its busy business activities before the pandemic. As countries regain confidence in business travel, the country has increased its MICE readiness efforts and added government programs to ensure that event organizers and business travelers have a smooth and authentic travel experience.

The TPB’s participation in the bid is part of the agency’s Partnerships as Pathways strategic plan, which aims to strengthen partnerships with key industry players. The agency also hopes that this opportunity will give the Philippines more chances to host bigger international meetings and exhibitions.
