In line with its goal of assisting Filipinos and businesses in expanding beyond brick-and-mortar operations through e-commerce, PLDT Enterprise, in collaboration with PayMaya, is assisting in the growth of digital transactions in the country by providing consumers and businesses with contactless and digital payments.

Consumers and companies rely significantly on internet transactions to continue accessing and providing products and services despite the restrictions while the country enforced quarantine measures to combat COVID-19. Merchants and SMEs implemented cashless payments after launching or expanding their online shop operations.

In this area, PayMaya supported businesses by allowing users to send payments or make bank transfers through the PayMaya app, allowing both retailers and consumers to purchase and sell online from the safety and comfort of their own homes.

SilverWorks, the country’s largest retailer of sterling silver jewelry, is one of the companies that has switched to cashless transactions in recent months to stay in business. “Our internet platforms were the only source of revenue for SilverWorks when the entire country was on lockdown. SilverWorks was able to offer the most convenient option to pay through online digital payments like PayMaya for people who did not want to risk infection by exchanging cash,” stated Louie Ocampo Gutierrez, Managing Director of SilverWorks.

Recognizing the growing need for zero-touch payments among enterprises, PLDT Enterprise has integrated PayMaya into its end-to-end suite of ICT and digital business solutions. Customers of PLDT Enterprise can now take use of PayMaya’s extensive digital payment solutions, which will help them and their businesses survive in the New Normal by allowing them to accept contactless payments.

As the quarantine restrictions persist, businesses will be forced to rely more on technology and digital channels to keep their operations running. In support, PLDT Enterprise recently announced BEYOND FIBER, a new internet package that now includes PayMaya as an add-on, allowing offices and retailers to accept online payments through PayMaya Business.

PayMaya’s recently launched PayMaya Negosyo app, which allows MSMEs to take digital payments and provide additional services to their consumers, will soon extend the business prospects accessible to retailers like SilverWorks.

PayMaya will also make it easier for merchants to sign up for and submit requirements for the different PayMaya Enterprise payment solutions that are available to them online.
