Samsung: The Undisputed Global Leader in TV Technology
For 17 years, Samsung TV has been the top choice for entertainment enthusiasts worldwide. Samsung has been the undisputed leader in the television industry by ensuring that its consumers receive the most advanced technology. And the highlight? Samsung is just beginning its journey of television technology innovation.
“We are proud of the accomplishments we have made over the past 17 years. Our success stems from our dedication to pushing the boundaries of innovation and listening to and comprehending the desires and needs of our customers. Chris Almazan, Head of Audio Visual – Samsung Philippines, explains, “Our innovations and daring thinking have revolutionized how people consume content, and we will continue to provide our customers with the best for years to come.”
Changing the TV technology landscape one innovation at a time
Samsung’s dominance in the television market began in 2006 with the introduction of the Bordeaux television, which signaled the widespread adoption of LCD televisions with sophisticated designs and lightweight bodies. At a time when most televisions were bulky, weighty, and vacuum-tube-based, the Bordeaux TV offered the exact opposite: a frame that resembled a wine-glass and a slim, wine-glass-like design. More than one million Bordeaux televisions were sold in the first six months after its release.
In 2009, Samsung introduced the world’s first edge-lit LED television, continuing its winning streak. Two years were required for a team of fifty engineers to develop more than 3,000 patents for the LED television, which introduced ultra-high contrast ratios and vibrant colors to your living room. It was also the world’s thinnest television at the time, one-third lighter than most devices on the market.
Two years later, in 2011, Samsung introduced the Smart TV, which carries with it the “Smart Lifestyle” and enables viewers to access a variety of content comparable to that of a personal computer.
Since then, Samsung has continuously redefined the world’s viewing behaviors with never-before-seen releases, including the world’s first curved UHD television, The Frame, the QLED television, and the 8K television, among others.
Uncontested World No. 1
Samsung has unquestionably earned its position in the global television industry due to its dedication to providing consumers with a connected, customizable experience.

In addition, the brand sold 9.65 million QLED and Neo QLED televisions worldwide in 2022.
Additionally, various accolades have been granted to Samsung for its products. The brand was recently honored in 46 categories by the Consumer Technology Association’s CES 2023 Innovation Awards.
