Song Kang Shares Upcoming New Season of Netflix Series ‘Sweet Home’ & Talks About His Career, Skincare, and the Philippines

ICYMI, South Korean actor Song Kang visited the Philippines for his first-ever fan meeting in Manila as the brand ambassador of the Korean skincare line Deoproce last March 5 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. 

Dubbed the ‘Son of Netflix’ for his hit series Love Alarm, Sweet Home, Nevertheless, Navillera, and Forecasting Love and Weather, the 28-year-old star faced the media representatives for a press conference hours before his fun meet. 

During the press conference, Song Kang described the streets of Manila as ‘beautiful’ and gushed about how much he enjoyed the breezy weather. He also tried Jollibee, halo-halo, and other Filipino-homemade dishes like kare-kare, bulalo, and garlic rice. Dried mango was his favorite. Additionally, Song Kang said he’d love to visit Boracay, where he could eat a lot of seafood and have a healing experience outside the city.

HIS SKINCARE ROUTINE

Despite his busy schedule, he seemed to maintain a youthful glow. When asked about his skincare regime, he said the first thing he does when he wakes up is cleansing. Afterward, he applies toner, moisturizer, and sun cream. For him, skincare is essential, but he makes sure that he gives attention to his cleansing routine. 

K-DRAMAS, ROLES & UPCOMING NEW SEASON OF SWEET HOME 

In response to a question regarding his attributes to his shows’ success, Song Kang answered, “I don’t think it’s really anything that I did, but it is because the K-dramas as a genre has been so popular, and I kind of rose with that popularity.” 

He believes K-dramas include relatable issues similar to his dramas like Love Alarm and Nevertheless. Song Kang feels they’re realistic shows, and he’s thankful he can perform at a time like this.

With the diverse range of characters Song Kang has portrayed, he revealed the closest to him was his role as Cha Hyun Soo from Sweet Home since he has poured a lot of energy and time into the character now that he’s currently filming. He said, “I hope you’ll look forward to that!” 

According to Song Kang, they’ve gone up to a much bigger scale with things for Sweet Home Season 2. He stated, “I think this would be a good way to look at it. If Season 1 was the story of how these different people grew and matured, then Seasons 2 and 3 would be the story of these people who have grown and matured in the first season.”  

MESSAGE TO FILIPINO FANS

Since it’s his first time in the Philippines, Song Kang is most excited about meeting his Filipino fans, PH Songpyeons, who have been waiting for him to visit the country.

He shared, “I feel like I’ve been receiving so much love, but I have not been able to give back just because of the situation lately. I have not been able to come and see Filipino fans, so finally being here and able to do that makes me happy.” 

Song Kang admits to feeling a little nervous, but he looks forward to it. He added, “All of this is because of Deoproce, so thank you very much for making this possible.”
