Planning to visit the Philippines but don’t know where to start? Enjoy the native flair of Philippine beauty on one of the Philippines’ pristine and yet-to-be-discovered islands, Ticao Island. Reconnect with nature on a tropical island with white sands, and hundreds of coconut trees in Masbate Province.

Masbate is an island province part of the Bicol Region and is known as the “Rodeo Capital of the country.” It has three major islands: Masbate, Ticao, and Burias. Luckily, we were able to explore Ticao Island during our day 3 trip in the Bicol Region. We quickly fell in love with this place, from its fantastic white-blue beaches to its marine sanctuary!
Best Time To Visit:
The best time to visit Ticao Island for island hopping is during the dry season, from November to May. In April and May, temperatures and humidity levels are usually high.
Masbate’s Ticao Island Hopping Tour:
Our island-hopping adventure on Ticao Island was one of the most memorable during our Bicol Trip.

The island hopping activity that they prepared for us showcases Masbate’s popular tourist spots and natural wonders, including white sand beaches, islets and rock formations, and unique waterfall that empties directly into the sea.
Halea Island Nature Park

Our adventure started with almost an hour-long boat ride going to Halea Island Nature Park. As the boat slowed down, the waves changed from a deep blue color to a crystal-clear turquoise. We knew that we finally arrived at Halea!

This marine reserve is the perfect place for those who love snorkeling and freediving. In fact, there are several harmless baby sharks, colorful coral, and various kinds of fish under the tropical water.

Halea is a perfect place to chill since it gives you a tropical vibe. We also had a delicious boodle fight under the palm trees while enjoying the calmness of the sea.
Catandayagan Falls

The next destination we went to was Catandayagan Falls! I’ve been to many waterfalls in the Philippines, and each is different from the other. Catandayagan Falls is one of them since it directly empties into the sea!

This waterfall is so unique; that’s why it’s considered to be one of the most popular tourist spots in Masbate. The boatmen docked our boat right below the Catandayagan Falls, which is why we were able to enjoy swimming! The water is so strong that it even pushes us away.
Borobangcaso Islet and Rock formation

Borobangcaso Islet and Rock formation is a small island with a powdery white sand beach. Even untrained rock climbers can climb several tall rock formations, but it’s safest to have your tourist guide accompany you as you mount and descend. The top of the hill provides a partial 360-degree view of the island.

However, we opt to take a photo behind these rocks, and we’re enjoying it since it’s so instagrammable!
Where To Stay In Ticao Island?
Ticao Island Resort
Ticao Island Resort is a diving resort located about 30 minutes from Monreal Port. The cottages are made of bamboo and situated by the beach. It’s the perfect place to stay for Manta bowl divers.
