UST Museum Interactive Exhibition Titled “UST goes Namjooning”
Through the UST Museum, the University of Santo Tomas (UST) launches an interactive exhibition titled “UST goes Namjooning” at 3 p.m. on September 13, 2022.
A short BTS-inspired opening program and a live mini-concert by students from the UST Conservatory of Music was held in the Main Building lobby to open the exhibition formally.
Inspired by Kim Namjoon, the leader and main rapper of the popular Korean band BTS, the event reintroduced UST’s history, culture, and heritage to the Thomasian community and stakeholders through the concept of Namjooning.
Namjooning, as defined, includes museum visits, communing with nature, cycling, appreciating architecture and public art, reading, and any personal activity for self-care, relaxation, and downtime.
The global impact and appeal of BTS leader Kim Namjoon elevated the concept of Namjooning to become part of popular culture, particularly among young people. The UST Museum hopes that students will learn and experience the university’s heritage in a new way through Namjooning.
The exhibition’s photo walls and interactive installations will encourage students to share their Namjooning experiences, enhancing their appreciation for what the historic UST campus offers.
Additionally, visitors can participate in table games that BTS members first played in their RUN BTS! show. Be part of scheduled Namjooning shoots in selected campus locations where visitors can pre-register for souvenir polaroid photographs taken by museum staff and post on the Freedom Wall to share their thoughts and reflections on Namjooning.
The UST Museum’s official Facebook page will contain instructions for the various interactive activities. “UST goes Namjooning” is now open starting today September 13 at the UST Museum (mezzanine level of the Main Building) and runs through October 21, 2022.
The UST Museum is accessible to the public. Thomasian students, faculty, support staff, alumni with ID, senior citizens and people with disabilities (PWDs) with valid IDs, tour guides, teachers leading school tour groups, and members of the International Council of Museums are admitted free of charge (ICOM).
The museum is open to the public on Mondays from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Tuesdays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
