We all know that one of the most beautiful towns in Italy is Venice, because of its twisting waterways and vibrant structures. But not everyone has the chance to travel to the city of water for a unique vacation. Fortunately, there are locations outside of Seoul City that resemble it. Jangrimpogu, a harbor in the coastal city of Busan, is one such place.

As a result of Jangrimpogu’s alleged resemblance to Venice, K-netizens have given the port the nickname “Bunezia,” a combination of the terms “Busan” and “Venezia,” the Italian name for Venice.

Experience the beauty of Venice in Korea

Jangrimpogu harbor, which looks like Venice used to be a place where the locals came for fishing. In the year 2017, the port got a new, colorful look with shophouses that look like those in Venice. The remodeling was done so that more tourists would come to the city of Saha-gu in Busan.

After being renovated, Jangrimpogu is now a great place to take Instagram-worthy photos. A lot of tourists and locals go there to take pictures of the beautiful scenery.

The port has a popular instagrammable spot called “Personal Color Zone,” where people can take selfies in front of 9 solid-colored doors and then put the pictures together to make a colorful 33-door collage.

You can also take pictures with the colorful shophouses in the background or as you walk along the river. The big rainbow “BUNEZIA” sign creates a cheesy, yet amusing photo zone. If you come to Jangrimpogu with family or friends, don’t forget to take a group photo.

You can take lots of photos here, but you can also use a drone to take a video of Jangrimpogu from above. There are two ways to pay for renting a drone: you can try one type of drone for free, or you can pay KRW10,000 (about $8.90) to try three different types.

Don’t forget to take pictures of the clock tower and windmills, which give the place a European feel.

Try their delicious Korean street foods

There are many small businesses in Jangrimpogu that sell street food, handicrafts, souvenirs, and drinks, hoping to make money from tourists and locals. After the port was fixed up, small businesses from the area were encouraged to open shops there.

Most of the shops in the shophouses are on the second floor. If you get hungry after taking pictures, you can buy Korean snacks like fishcakes and tangsuyuk from snack stands.

Local products are available made by small businesses

Beaded accessories can be found at a store called beadswon, which is a good place for people who like to make things. The small business in the area also sells beaded handbags that are made by hand and has workshops where you can learn how to make your own beaded accessories.

When you go to the port, buy something to help the new businesses there.

We believe that the best time to go to Jangrimpogu would be in the late afternoon. During the day, you can take good photos in bright, natural light, and in the evening, you can see a beautiful sunset.

Tips on how to take an amazing photo at Bunezia

• The best time to take a photo is during the golden hour, right after sunrise or right before sunset when the sky is filled with shades of different colors.
• Looking for something different? Go upstairs to get amazing drone shots from the air.
• Sit along the calm water of the canal or in front of the brightly colored doors to make a picture that looks like you’ve left Korea and gone to Italy.
• To make a fantastic picture, take a selfie before each door and put them all together in a collage.

How to get to Jangrimpogu

If you’ve never been to Venice, Jangrimpogu gives you a good idea of what it would be like to go there.

• Take the KTX and get off at Busan Station on the Gyeongbu Line.
• At the Busan Station bus stop, get on Bus No. 1000. The bus stop is right next to where Texas Street starts and right outside the train station’s exit.
• Get off at the third stop.
• Turn right and keep walking straight until you reach the next bus stop, which is about 21 meters away.
• Board Bus Saha-gu 5. You can take this bus to get to Saha-gu, where Jangrimpogu is.
• Get off at stop number 21. This trip on the bus will take about 24 minutes.
