Positive outlook for Philippine tourism – Department of Tourism Chief
The Philippines are prepared to welcome more tourists, as the outlook for Philippine tourism remains optimistic and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has made the business a top priority during his term.
This was the announcement made by Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco during her speech to tourism ministers and international travel and tourism executives at the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Aligned Advocacy Dinner on November 7 (London time) at One Great George Street.
“Before assuming office on 30 June, it was anticipated that the Philippines would attract 1,7 million tourists by the end of the year. “Since we began implementing all of the initiatives and goals of the Marcos administration, we have far surpassed this objective,” stated Secretary Frasco.
According to the most recent data from the DOT as of November 7, the number of visitors visiting the Philippines has reached 1.9 million.
“No one else drives our economic resurgence but the Filipino people. She continued, “We have a youthful, well-trained crew that is as compassionate and gentle as they are courageous and fierce.”
Secretary Frasco detailed some of the measures being taken by the Philippine government and the Department of Tourism (DOT) to maintain the upward trend of the country’s visitor arrivals.
“”As a result of the President’s Executive Order lifting the ban on the entry of unvaccinated foreigners, our guests are now needed to present a negative antigen test if they seek to enter the Philippines,” Secretary Frasco stated.
The Department of Tourism (DOT) is set to launch overwintering packages created in collaboration with travel agencies that “feature not only our idyllic islands and charming destinations, but also many thematic adventures for the choosing, from luxury trips to family vacations, unique Filipino wellness experiences to colorful cultural immersions, discovering the underwater world through diving exhibitions, and discovering our flavors through food trips.” “Secretary Frasco was added.
The Philippine Experience Culture Heritage and Arts Caravan is another initiative of the Department of Tourism (DOT) that will give tourists the opportunity to tour the Philippines and see how beautiful the country’s destinations are through its festivals, food, products, and the hospitality of its people.
“As we near the end of 2022 and the new year, we are optimistic and hopeful about the future. Thankful for your friendship and continuous interest in the Philippines, knowing there is so much to look forward to with the Filipino people’s tenacious spirit. The DOT administrator invited everyone to visit the Philippines and experience the hospitality of the Filipino people.
The WTM London
Earlier, Frasco accompanied Philippine tourism players in formally opening the Philippine Pavilion at the World Travel Market (WTM) 2022 in ExCeL, London, in order to communicate the country’s openness to tourism and business prospects at the global travel and trade convention.
At the WTM 2022 London, the tourism head voiced optimism about the future of the Philippines, stating, “There is so much to be proud of in our country, and there is no doubt that our country remains a top-of-mind destination despite all of the problems and disasters that we have encountered.”
“Cebu, Palawan, and Siargao are three of the top 25 islands in the world, and they are all located in the Philippines. Boracay, one of Time Magazine’s 50 Best Places of the Year, may be found exclusively in the Philippines. In addition, we have the continual wonders of our country, such as the subterranean river in Palawan, the chocolate hills in Bohol, and all of our country’s other magnificent beaches, which have led to the Philippines being named one of the 40 Best Countries in the World. Recently, we were named Asia’s Top Dive Destination, Asia’s Top Beach Destination, and Asia’s Top Tourist Attraction “She said.
The Philippine contingent to WTM 2022 London is comprised of firms from the travel and tours, hotel, and dive industries. WTM is an annual event that attracts the largest names and brands in the travel industry.
“The aim of the Philippine delegation is to communicate to the rest of the globe that the Philippines is open and ready to attract tourists and investments. I pray for the success of this mission because our nation is so lovely that there is no reason for us to fail “Secretary Frasco stated to the exhibitors during the huddle.
WTM London is a worldwide travel and tourism event where the industry’s greatest figures from every sector and background can interact, network, and discover new ways to grow and develop their businesses.
PATA is a non-profit worldwide organization whose mission is to promote “the responsible growth of travel and tourism to, from, and within the Asia-Pacific area.”
