Tata Taktumi Debuts ‘Not So Bad’ With Creative Direction From Timbaland
A new voice is stepping into the spotlight, and it’s unlike anything the music industry has seen before.
Tata Taktumi, better known as Tata, has officially released her latest single, “Not So Bad,” under Pacific Music Group (PMG), the Pan-Asian entertainment company making waves in the global music scene. But beyond the release itself, Tata’s emergence marks a unique intersection of music, technology, and human creativity.
Developed under the creative direction of multi-Grammy-winning producer Timbaland, Tata is described as a human-led hybrid artist — a concept that blends innovation with authentic artistry. While the project has sparked curiosity for its use of evolving technology, the people behind it emphasize that the heart of the music remains deeply human.
At the center of “Not So Bad” are Tata’s real vocals and performance, paired with Timbaland’s signature production expertise. Technology played a role in shaping the track’s sound, helping reinterpret musical ideas and introduce new sonic textures, but the songwriting, artistic vision, and final creative decisions were driven by people.
Tata’s path into music began in an unexpected way. Originally joining the project as a dancer through the globally recognized Jabbawockeez network, she quickly caught Timbaland’s attention for her stage presence and artistic potential. What began as a performance role gradually evolved into vocal work and creative collaboration, ultimately transforming Tata into a multifaceted artist.
Known for crafting hits with music icons such as Rihanna, Madonna, Beyoncé, and Drake, Timbaland has long embraced experimentation in music production. His involvement in Tata’s project reflects a continued interest in exploring new creative possibilities while keeping emotion and artistic identity at the forefront.
“It’s an honor to be working with one of the greatest producers while also shaping my artistry through this process,” Tata shared. “This project is built on real performance, collaboration, and creativity, with technology helping expand what we can imagine. I’m having fun creating and it inspires me.”
Behind the release is Pacific Music Group, a company founded in 2025 with a vision of developing globally recognized artists from across Asia. Covering genres from hip-hop and pop to R&B and electronic music, PMG combines artist development, partnerships, and international reach under one platform.
The company’s leadership includes notable names such as NE-YO, Sonu Nigam, MC Jin, and former Warner Music Asia executive Jonathan Serbin. With creative hubs established across Japan, China, Korea, India, and Southeast Asia, PMG continues to build opportunities for artists aiming to break into global markets. The company has also expanded its roster with artists including Tiffany Young.
As Tata enters this new chapter with “Not So Bad,” the release signals more than just a debut single — it offers a glimpse into an evolving music landscape where technology and human storytelling can exist side by side.
