The Bay Strikes Back Tour in Manila ft. Testament, Exodus and Death Angel

Though numerous successful heavy metal groups have achieved varied recognition and acclaim, only a few have earned the distinction of “genre-defining…” And as far as thrash metal is concerned, some artists have long since established their status as the genre’s pioneers by providing the groundwork for its timeless sound and enduring fury.

Testament. Exodus. Death Angel. Three legendary names that every metalhead knows and loves. Emerging from the highly regarded 1980s underground thrash metal scene in San Francisco Bay Area, all three bands unknowingly helped create a sound that was a hybrid of the New Wave of Heavy Metal, British Heavy Metal, and fast, street-style punk, laying the groundwork for some of the most influential subgenres and artists to follow.

This same foundation and formula influenced and helped propel The Big Four of thrash – Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, and Slayer – into the global superstars they are today: all through grassroots/D.I.Y. sensibilities like worldwide tape-trading (way before there was the internet…), incendiary live shows that many considered to be almost religious experiences, and a worldwide sense of community, even without radio airplay and airtime on MTV.

The Bay Strikes Back Tour Manila, scheduled to invade our shores on September 21, 2023 is set to perform at the Skydome at S.M. City North Edsa. This is the long-awaited metal show of the year.
