The English vocalist, musician, songwriter, and actor YUNGBLUD is scheduled to perform in Manila for his YUNGBLUD ASIA TOUR LIVE IN MANILA concert on November 8, 2023, 8PM at the Skydome, SM City North EDSA, with JESSE JO STARK as a special guest.
Rarely does an artist emerge like YUNGBLUD, who has undeniably become the voice of Gen-Z by using his music to unite and empower today’s youth. From the ground up, he has cultivated a worldwide community of devoted followers – a close-knit family that has grown into the millions. With a social following of over 14.5 million, over 5 billion TikTok views, 6.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify, and 5 billion global streams, YUNGBLUD is unquestionably one of his generation’s most prominent alternative artists.
In 2023, his rapid journey across the alternative universe persists as he unveils the new single ‘Lowlife,’ ushering in a revitalized era that manages to reconnect him with his origins while propelling him into the exhilarating unknown of YUNGBLUD’s future. He says that the creation of ‘Lowlife’ stemmed from his desire to remain within the confines of his home. The constant interactions with people, the intricacies of social dynamics, self-reflection, even the presence of his companions – every action he took seemed to invite unnecessary judgments from others. The reality was that he yearned for moments of insignificance, times when he could simply exist without any defined purpose. Consequently, he chose to confine myself to my bed, seeking a kind of monotony that involves residing within familiar sheets and indulging in mind-numbing television. This song is an encapsulation of those feelings.
YUNGBLUD returns to his alternative origins while also taking creative risks with eccentric yet detailed production and considered instrumentation that feels both new and nostalgic, infusing his music with an entirely revitalized spirit. He also ventures deeper than ever before in his most sincere and unfiltered lyrical narration to date, employing intricate and sophisticated wordplay that, when combined with the aural shift, lends darkness and intensity to this new chapter.
Ironically, YUNGBLUD has been at the top of the charts and overflowing the mantelpiece from the start of his meteoric ascension as an artist who strongly rejected the music industry’s predetermined concept of success. Following the release of his self-titled EP and full-length debut ’21st Century Liability’ in 2018, he went on to win ‘Best Music Video’ at the NME Awards in February 2020 and ‘Best Alternative Artist’ at the MTV EMAs in 2021. He has performed to sold-out audiences in over 20 countries and at some of the world’s largest festivals over the years.
The coming-of-age album ‘Strange!’ by YUNGBLUD debuted at No. 1 on the UK Official Album Chart in 2020. He also launched ‘The YUNGBLUD Podcast’ on BBC Sounds in 2020, where he encounters young music fans who are approaching life-turning points to discuss topics and issues affecting young people today, such as gender, sexuality, identity, money concerns, friendships, fashion, and mental health. The release of YUNGBLUD’s third studio album, ‘YUNGBLUD,’ marked a new and thrilling chapter. Since its release in September 2022, the album has obtained over 423 million streams and debuted at number one in six countries.
