Prepare for an incredible night of indie music pleasure! PULP Live World is excited to announce that Last Dinosaurs, the beloved Australian indie-rock band, will return to Manila for their LAST DINOSAURS LIVE IN MANILA concert on December 8, 2024, at the Skydome, SM City North EDSA. This performance promises to be a dream come true for fans who have been impatiently anticipating their return to the Philippines.

LAST DINOSAURS LIVE IN MANILA

The Brisbane-based band, formed in 2007, is made up of Sean Caskey (Lead/Backup Vocals, Rhythm/Lead Guitar), Lachlan Caskey (Lead/Backup Vocals, Lead/Rhythm Guitar), Danjuro Koyama (Drums), and Michael Sloane (Bass). Sean and Dan met in high school and bonded over their love of music. Last Dinosaurs has evolved into one of the most distinct and dynamic indie bands on the planet, attracting listeners all over the world with their catchy hooks, sophisticated guitar work, and contagious enthusiasm.

Last Dinosaurs first gained attention in the music industry with the release of their debut EP, Back from the Dead, in 2010. Their blend of indie-rock, electronic, and dance influences drew attention from Australian media, with publications such as Triple J praising their distinct sound. It wasn’t long before the band was on the radar of major music festivals, and they went on tours that took them beyond Australia’s borders.

Their debut studio album, In a Million Years (2012), cemented their place in the indie music scene, with singles like “Zoom” and “Honolulu” becoming instant fan favorites. The success of their debut allowed them to grow their fan base, earning critical acclaim not only in Australia but also internationally. In 2015, the band released their second album, Wellness, which included hit singles including “Evie” and “Apollo.”

These songs became anthems for indie fans, and the album demonstrated their ability to write tunes that combine introspective content with danceable music. Their growth continued with the release of their third album, Yumeno Garden, in 2018. This album was a period of experimentation for the band, incorporating new sonic components while maintaining the trademark Last Dinosaurs sound that their fans had grown to adore. Singles like “Dominos” and “Eleven” showcased their versatility as they continued to venture into new subjects and musical realms.

Fast forward to 2023-2024, and Last Dinosaurs has achieved new heights with their next ambitious endeavor, KYORYU. This 13-song concept album is unlike anything else the band has released, transporting listeners on a sonic voyage into a futuristic universe. The album delves into existential topics and offers an immersive narrative experience, combining experimental soundscapes with the band’s trademark indie-rock approach. The album was announced via two transmission-style videos on YouTube, giving fans a glimpse into the intertwined narrative of RYU and KYO, the two EPs that form the basis of the KYORYU project. Each EP is complemented by manga tales that further develop the characters and storyline. RYU and KYO are short for Sean and Lachlan’s middle names, Ryusuke and Kyohei, which lends a personal and cultural dimension to the project. Interestingly, “KYORYU” translates to “dinosaur” in Japanese, making it an appropriate word for a band that is constantly evolving while remaining true to its beginnings.

The KYORYU project not only challenges the boundaries of indie-rock music, but it also transports audiences to a vast and imaginative realm, with each song adding additional layers to the album’s overall story.
