Kim Min Ha Reflects on “Pachinko” Season 2, Life Lessons, and Staying True to Herself
“Pachinko” star Kim Min Ha is captivating fans not only on screen but also in the latest issue of Elle Korea. The talented actress, who portrays the resilient Sun Ja in the critically acclaimed series, recently took part in a sun-soaked photo shoot that perfectly showcased her fresh and vibrant look.
During the accompanying interview, Kim Min Ha opened up about her experience filming the much-anticipated Season 2 of “Pachinko.” Reflecting on the differences between the two seasons, she shared, “In Season 1, I felt the pressure of being relatively unknown to the cast and crew. But in Season 2, it was completely different—everyone recognized me. It brought a unique set of challenges, especially in portraying Sun Ja’s evolution over the years while staying true to the character I developed in the first season.”
Kim Min Ha also delved into the deeper conversations that shaped the second season. “We discussed the hopes each character holds onto, especially against the backdrop of a world war. Season 2 is more dramatic and intense, with many characters grappling with loss and devastation. We explored what drives them to keep moving forward despite their hardships,” she explained.
When asked how she relates to her character, Sun Ja, Kim Min Ha revealed, “I imagined myself living through Sun Ja’s experiences. Although I haven’t faced war, I’ve encountered my own challenges and found reasons to smile even during the toughest times. Holding onto even the smallest thread of hope is crucial in life.”
Speaking of hope, Kim Min Ha shared what keeps her grounded and optimistic. “For me, it’s my family, my dog, my friends, and the simple pleasures in life—like the scent of flowers or a cool breeze on a hot day. These small moments are significant sources of hope.”
As Kim Min Ha approaches the seventh anniversary of her acting career, she reflected on the valuable lessons she’s learned along the way. “One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is how to truly listen. Acting is about listening, observing, and then expressing those observations. Over the years, I’ve become better at absorbing others’ experiences and conveying them through my performances,” she shared.
When asked about her personal priorities as an actress, Kim Min Ha emphasized the importance of self-care. “I never want to lose myself. If I do, everything I do becomes meaningless. That’s why self-care is my top priority—I practice meditation, exercise, and read books to stay connected to myself.”
Fans can look forward to seeing more of Kim Min Ha’s insights and stunning visuals in the September issue of Elle Korea, where her full photo shoot and interview will be featured.
