American rock band Mayday Parade announces Davao concert this October
Filipino enthusiasts of pop-punk music are in for an exhilarating treat as an exciting announcement has been made for music fans in Davao: the arrival of internationally acclaimed pop-punk giants, MAYDAY PARADE, to their town!
That’s right! On October 30th, 2023, at the SMX Convention Center, these esteemed alternative/emo icons will grace the stage, performing their most beloved hits and cherished live anthems, such as “Jamie All Over,” “Miserable At Best,” “Jersey,” “Oh Well, Oh Well,” and “Piece of Your Heart.” Comprised of lead vocalist/pianist Derek Sanders, guitarists Alex Garcia and Brooks Betts, bassist Jeremy Lenzo, and drummer Jake Bundrick, the band had initially announced shows in Manila and Cebu. However, due to overwhelming demand from their fans, they have decided to extend their tour to visit and perform for friends and fans residing further south of the archipelago.
In fact, Mayday Parade is one of the few, if not the only, international artists in recent years to have scheduled performances in all three major cities.
Vernon Go, CEO of PULP Live World, expresses his deep gratitude for the long-standing partnership between Mayday Parade and their company, saying, “We are extremely honored to have worked with Mayday Parade over the course of many years. The band and PULP have been partners for over a decade now, and we truly value the trust the band has placed in our company. It is a wonderful opportunity to continue serving the band and their fans after all these years and now bring them to a new city in the Philippines for the first time.”
These upcoming shows will mark the band’s sixth visit to the Philippines, their second in Cebu, and, as previously mentioned, their debut performance in Davao.
Formed in 2005 in Tallahassee, Florida, Mayday Parade has always possessed a talent for combining catchy melodies, heartfelt lyrics, and monumental, anthemic choruses. Their debut EP, Tales Told by Dead Friends, released in 2006, independently sold over 50,000 copies without any label or external support. With an impressive discography of seven full-length albums to date, the group has distinguished themselves from their peers through relentless touring and electrifying live performances that leave audiences in awe.
Davaoeños and Davaoeñas, this is an event that will surely go down in history. Make sure to gather your friends, spread the word, and secure your tickets as soon as they become available on July 30th at 12 noon. Tickets can be purchased at all SM Tickets Outlets nationwide or conveniently online through www.smtickets.com.
