We have always been fans of cowboy films with one of our favorite which is the classic; “The Good, The Bad And The Ugly”. We found the El Kabayo; an old Western town in Clark, Pampanga, Philippines. This facility is a recreation of an old western town straight out of a Western film. When you visit El Kabayo, you’ll feel as if you’re on the set of one of John Wayne’s or Clint Eastwood’s films from the golden age of Hollywood.

Without computers, mobile phones, or Internet gaming, television programming in those early years was shamelessly western. Who among them had not spent endless hours staring at the television, watching Bonanza, Hopalong Cassidy, the Lone Ranger, Wagon Train, Rawhide, Have Gun Will Travel, Bat Masterson, and a slew of other shows?

In those days, no self-respecting kid could be seen without his trusty six-shooters, cowboy hat, vest, chaps, and boots, all ready for the next cowboys and Indians game. The popularity of television westerns sparked our interest in all things cowboy.

With one of those baby boomers, the western cowboy spirit has remained alive throughout the years. Clark El Kabayo Western town’s “sheriff” is Gabby la ‘O. Gabby was inspired to realize a goal while on a cross-country trip with his older children through western towns and dude ranches in 2003. Gabby was already the aspiring “sheriff” of Subic’s El Kabayo Riding stables at the time. For someone whose Christmas wish list always included the longing for a “real horse,” the goal of establishing a cowboy town was only a matter of time.

Riding a horse is a thrilling adventure that everyone should try. If you enjoy riding horses but find the cost of owning one prohibitive, here is your chance to ride to your heart’s content while someone else takes care of the horse.

You can ride on your own or follow instructions.

Ride your horse around the vast property or, if you’re a more skilled rider, into Clark’s adjacent greenbelt regions. If you’ve never ridden a horse before, you might want to take advantage of instruction from a team of professional trainers and riders.

We highly recommend El Kabayo but we advise to bring umbrellas and sun lotion since it can get hot during the day but it’s worth it!
