The Department of Tourism (DOT) XI, in collaboration with SM Lanang Premier, will host the first-ever Davao Dive Expo on June 24 to 26 in an effort to revitalize diving activities in the region and showcase Davao as a leading diving destination in Mindanao.
Following the successful holding of the Samal Dive Festival from May 25 to 29, DOT Xl Regional Director Tanya Rabat Tan commented, “It is our intention that through this initiative, we can further promote our established and emerging dive sites and raise knowledge of this tourism activity to our communities.”
Dive sites in Davao Oriental, notably dive sites in the City of Mati and Governor Generoso, as well as more than 10 dive sites in the Island Garden City of Samal, Davao del Norte, will be showcased in the atrium of SM Lanang Premier in Davao City.
The three-day diving expo will include a daily dive and marine preservation discussion led by noted conservationists, an underwater photo exhibit of diverse dive locations in the Davao Region, and pop-up booths showcasing local dive shops, dive destinations, and other connected services.
“We hope that through hosting the dive exhibition, both tourists and locals will have a better understanding of undersea biodiversity and support greater marine wildlife protection,” Tan added.
