From Humble Beginnings to Rising Stardom
Born on January 26, 1986, in Gongju, South Korea, Kim Jaejoong’s journey to fame was anything but easy. Overcoming poverty and family hardships, he fueled his passion for music, setting his sights on a dream that would soon become reality.

During his early days in the industry, he shared a living space with singer and actor Kim Hyun Joong, and their friendship has endured over time. Additionally, he maintains a friendly rapport with Ji Sung, his co-star from “Protect the Boss,” Jin Yi Han, with whom he appeared in “Dr. Jin,” and Jang Geun Suk, who happens to be his neighbor.
Jaejoong sisters
Jaejoong has eight sisters and is adopted. His adopted sisters did not know he was adopted when they were young. They babied him and liked to dress him in their clothes.
After his biological parents gave him up for adoption, his mother remarried, and he has a half-sister who looks like him. He remains close with his adopted sisters.

On a recent episode of Taste Of Love, one of the couples staged a bogus traditional wedding. After observing the couple’s wedding, MC Park Narae asked Kim Jaejoong if he would be alright with a small wedding.
Kim Jaejoong stunned the studio when he disclosed that he could never have a modest wedding because he has eight older sisters! “Even if I wanted a small wedding, it’s impossible because I have 8 sisters.” Jaejoong said.
TVXQ
In 2003, Kim Jaejoong joined SM Entertainment and became an integral part of the illustrious boy band, TVXQ (DBSK). The group composed of five members namely Hero Jaejoong, Max Changmin, Micky Yoochun, U-Know Yunho, and Xiah Junsu.
TVXQ’s captivating music and Jaejoong’s heavenly vocals quickly catapulted them to stardom, captivating audiences not only in Asia but across the globe.
In his school days, he faced ridicule from classmates when he shared his aspiration of becoming a singer. Recognizing the need to refine his voice, he diligently practiced and honed his skills.
At the age of 15, he took a bold step and left home to audition for the company, taking on various odd jobs to sustain himself. This endeavor bore fruit as he became the lead vocalist of the prominent band TVXQ from 2003 to 2010.
JYJ Formation


In 2010, Jaejoong, along with fellow TVXQ members Yoochun and Junsu, made a daring decision to leave SM Entertainment due to contractual disputes. Together, they formed JYJ, embarking on a new journey that showcased their artistic evolution and passionate fan base.
In an interview with Esquire magazine he was asked why he got the tattoos.
He said, “We are friends who have and who are realizing the same dreams, friends who suffered from the greatest pains and changed growing up,” Jaejoong added “So, there’s no regret. When I become an old man and when my grandchildren ask what the tattoos are about I won’t feel shy sharing the stories.”
As a soloist
Beyond his group successes, Kim Jaejoong embarked on a solo career, selling half a million albums in 2017 and enchanting audiences with his introspective music and breathtaking performances. His debut album, “I,” unveiled a deeper side to his artistry, solidifying him as an acclaimed solo artist.
Jaejoong on Screen

He invests in real estate
Like other South Korean celebrities, Jaejoong invested his hard-earned money. He invested his money in several buildings and apartments. He apparently purchased a $2.5 million flat in Samsung-dong and a $7 million skyscraper in Seocho-dong. The monthly rent for the two properties is $4,900 and $35,000, respectively.
The K-pop singer has caught the business bug and invested in several food ventures. Throughout South Korea, he owns cafés, bars, and restaurants. He holds Coffee Cojjee and Cafe J-Holic in Samsung-dong, the Japanese restaurant Bum’s Story, and the Gangnam bar Holic J-bar. These food businesses are highly profitable due to the frequent presence of his numerous fans. Additionally, he owns a mall in Shibuya, Tokyo, with the third and fourth floors rented for $40,000.
He collects luxury cars

Kim Jae-joong’s luxury vehicle collection comes as no surprise, given the income he earns from renting properties. Jaejoong spent approximately $500,000 (USD) on his Lamborghini Murcielago LP640.
Jaejoong giving back to the community

Last 2020, Kim Jaejoong donated to help sending masks for Wuhan Coronavirus. Fans were surprised by the deposit amount of a certain account under Kim Jaejoong’s name. Later on, they were able to confirm that it was indeed the real Jaejoong via a confirmation from his agency, he donated 10 million ₩.
