Nandito na ang MEI MEI girls!

The Philippines’ newest girl group, MEI MEI, officially stepped into the spotlight with their highly anticipated Grand Media Launch held on May 27, 2026, at Skydome, SM North EDSA. The event marked the formal introduction of the eight-member act to the entertainment industry, drawing an energetic crowd of media friends, industry partners, and special guests eager to witness the arrival of a promising new force in P-pop.

Presented by Groovy Garden Records, the newest label under PULP Group, the launch transformed the venue into a lively Filipino fiesta-inspired celebration. Colorful banderitas filled the space, while interactive game booths, local street food stalls, and a crowd-favorite “MEI Bingo” activity gave attendees an immersive introduction to the world of MEI MEI.

Hosted by Inah Evans and Milo Elmido Jr., the evening was packed with exciting performances, heartfelt moments, and major firsts. Guests witnessed the live debut of the group’s first single, “Telebong,” alongside the exclusive world premiere of its music video. The event also introduced the eight members behind MEI MEI: Alexa, Jhamayka, Ada, Aerise, Thea, Jessie, Yuni, and Dina.

The night officially opened with a welcome speech from Sir Vernon Go, Chairman and President of PULP Group, who formally introduced both Groovy Garden Records and MEI MEI to the media. Reflecting on the group’s beginnings, he recalled seeing the members during their early auditions and witnessing their growth firsthand.

When asked about the meaning behind “MEI MEI,” Jhamayka shared that it was inspired by the uniquely Filipino tradition of repeated nicknames like “Jan-Jan,” “Len-Len,” and “Mai-Mai,” symbols of affection and familiarity among Filipinos.

“Gusto namin instantly relatable and familiar sa mga Filipino. We hope that when you hear MEI MEI, it feels like home. It’s a tribute po kung saan po kami nanggaling and it describes us being so out there and confident,” she shared.

Alexa also opened up about the close bond shared among the members, emphasizing how their training journey helped them grow not only as performers but also as sisters living under one roof.

The members also revealed that several of them had prior experience in the entertainment industry before debuting, with Thea humorously recalling how she once called herself the “Princess Raketera ng Laguna.”

As the Philippine pop scene continues to expand with new acts emerging, MEI MEI remains confident about what makes them unique.

“We don’t stick to one image or personality. We all have different personalities and that makes us MEI MEI, our individuality. We are encouraged to show our true selves. No pretention, just simple embracing who we are. Most importantly, we have a strong focus on storytelling through a Filipino lens.”

Rather than conforming to a single image, the group embraces the uniqueness of every member, creating a dynamic identity that allows audiences to genuinely connect with them.
