PULP Summer Slam to return this March 2024

Everything has to finish eventually.

The longest-running metal festival in Southeast Asia bids farewell to the legions of Filipino heavy metal fans on March 23, 2024 at the Amoranto Stadium, Quezon City. The event is expected to be the most explosive combination of hard rock/heavy metal bands and fans of the year, continuing the great tradition of showcasing the best performers in the genre and continually improving the whole rock fan experience with dazzling lights and sound and extras like meet-and-greet packages for devoted enthusiasts.

The festival features an all-international lineup with nine highly regarded bands from all over the world: FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE from Italy will play a symphonic and technical death metal set that is frighteningly impressive, and CRYPTA, an all-female death metal band from Sau Paolo, Brazil, is making waves in the global metal community.

Japan’s PROMPTS are leading the way in melodic heavy metal, and genre-bending all-female rock group ROLLING QUARTZ from Seoul, South Korea, will undoubtedly provide a fair dose of both auditory and visual pleasure to the roster.

Along with co-headliners and modern punk rock band STORY OF THE YEAR, a surefire favorite that emerged and quickly rose to worldwide popularity during the early part of the millennium, bands like LA DISPUTE (a post-hardcore group from Grand Rapids, Michigan), FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY (a deathcore band based in New Jersey), and OF VIRTUE (metalcore from Lansing, Michigan) will be bringing various sounds and styles with their unique takes on the subgenres under the heavy metal umbrella.

Arguably one of the largest underground metal bands in Australia, PARKWAY DRIVE is the festival’s main act and will offer thunderous metalcore from down under. The band Parkway Drive, which is made up of drummer Ben Gordon, bassist Jia O’Connor, guitarists Jeff Ling and Luke Kilpatrick, and vocalist Winston McCall, hails from Byron Bay, New South Wales.

This will be the band’s second performance in the nation; their first was 12 years prior in 2011 and was also produced by PULP Live World.

Without a doubt, PULP Summer Slam will forever be remembered as the most legitimate metal event for Filipino fans since its inception in 2000. It has evolved into something of an annual pilgrimage, drawing together fans from across the nation and beyond to honor and encourage musicians and one another in an effort to maintain the global heavy metal scene’s flame.
