PULP Summer Slam XX: Worlds Collide Puts the Spotlight and Brings Heavy Metal Back to the Philippines in 2024

Southeast Asia’s longest-running metal festival is back! With true PULP-style, the musical mayhem will only get bigger, louder, and better for Filipino fans of hard rock and metal.

With the title PULP Summer Slam XX: Worlds Collide, the event will take place at the famed Amoranto Stadium in Quezon City next March 23rd, 2024, and aims not only to continue the fine tradition of providing the best artists in the genre. Through a spectacular display of lights, sound, and perks, such as exclusive meet-and-greet packages for die-hard rock fans, the concert experience will constantly be elevated for rock fans.

The PULP Summer Slam XX lineup features ten internationally renowned bands from around the world. Featuring a terrifyingly impressive set of symphonic death metal and technical death metal from Italy, FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE and CRYPTA from Sau Paolo Brazil will be presenting a terrifyingly impressive set of death metal. The genre-bending all-female rock outfit ROLLING QUARTZ, hailing from Seoul, South Korea, will certainly add sonic and visual appeal to the lineup. At the same time, Japan’s PROMPTS will raise the flag for melodic heavy metal at the festival.

From various cities across the United States, bands like LA DISPUTE (a post-hardcore band from Grand Rapids, Michigan), FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY (a deathcore band from New Jersey), OF VIRTUE (metalcore from Lansing, Michigan) With their unique take on heavy metal subgenres, they will bring a wide variety of sounds and styles to the stage. Co-headliners include metalcore cult legends CODE ORANGE, as well as modern punk rock band STORY OF THE YEAR, a surefire hit that rapidly gained worldwide attention during the early 2000s.

One of the world’s biggest underground metal bands, PARKWAY DRIVE, will headline the festival to bring the thunder from down under. Parkway Drive is a band hailing from Byron Bay, New South Wales, featuring vocalist Winston McCall, guitarists Jeff Ling and Luke Kilpatrick, bassist Jia O’Connor, and drummer Ben Gordon. It is a highly anticipated show for many fans since it is the band’s second appearance in the country. Their first show took place 12 years ago, in 2011, and was also produced by PULP Live World.

Vernon Go, CEO of PULP Live World Productions, stated, “I had thought of ending the PULP Summer Slam on its 20th anniversary, but I have changed my mind… metal shall live,” when asked about what he thought about the upcoming event. In addition to being a heavy metal fan himself, PULP Live World has also brought in the biggest names in the genre over the past two decades, including Megadeth, Lamb of God, ArchEnemy, Slayer, Anthrax, Testament, Death Angel, Killswitch Engage, and many more bands that other companies would never have been able to bring to the Philippines. 

There is no doubt that PULP Summer Slam still holds its rightful reputation as the most legitimate festival for Filipino metal fans since its first appearance in 2000. This event has grown into a mecca for heavy metal fans all over the country – and beyond – to gather and celebrate as well as support one another to ensure the flame of the worldwide heavy metal scene continues to burn brightly.
