Disney+ Premieres Action-Packed Thriller ‘The Tyrant’ on August 14

When a cutting-edge virus is stolen during a secret handover between Korean and US security services, both nations will go to war to reclaim it in The Tyrant, a must-see new Korean drama premiering exclusively on Disney+ on August 14.

After years of witnessing their country being subjugated by foreign powers, a group of rogue scientists working within the South Korean government starts developing a virus that will level the playing field with the world’s most powerful nations. The virus known as “The Tyrant Project” has endless potential for human growth. However, before the research can be completed, a group of US agents discovers the scheme and demands that all samples be turned over.

Unwilling to abandon his study, the group’s commander hires a black operations team to retrieve it, but when things go wrong during the attack, groups on both sides are left racing to recover the virus and exploit it to further their own goals.

The Tyrant, written and directed by Park Hoonjung (New World, I Saw the Devil), stars Jo Yoonsu (True Beauty, Juvenile Justice) as vengeful assassin Chae Jagyeong, Cha Seoungwon (Our Blues, A Korean Odyssey) as cold-blooded mercenary Lim Sang, Kim Seonho (Start-Up, Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha) as Director Choe, the leader of the secret Korean project, and Kim Kangwoo (Le Grand Chef, Goodbye Mr. Black) as U.S. intelligence agent Paul.
