K-pop idol actor, and all-around entertainer Hwang Min Hyun has captured the hearts of fans worldwide with his charm, talent, and stunning visuals. A wonder boy on both the Kpop Idol and Kdrama world, his upcoming mini-concert ‘Unveil’ in Manila is definitely one show you shouldn’t miss!

While his rise to fame has been well-documented, there are many intriguing facts and trivia about this multifaceted artist that are worth exploring. Here are some of the “Hidden Side” of Hwang Min Hyun:

Born A Star

Hwang Min Hyun was born on August 9, 1995, in Busan, South Korea. Before the limelight, it was said that Hwang Min Hyun’s first dream was to become the president of Korea that even his grandmother called him “president”. When he was only around 15 years old, he was discovered on the streets of Busan while eating chicken skewers. He sang 2AM’s “You Wouldn’t Answer My Calls” for his audition piece with Pledis Entertainment. Even before debuting, he co-starred in the music video of Orange Caramel’s single “Shanghai Romance”.

A Disciplined Guy

An interesting trivia about Hwang Min Hyun is his daily routine. He is very health conscious and disciplined, important traits in becoming a successful idol. On an episode of the MBC reality show “Home Alone”, fans were amazed how the idol makes his bed, and organizes his home from top to bottom. He also follows a strict diet, from taking regular supplements, to eating salads on days he feels he has over-ate. 

A Trainee Mindset

Despite being in the industry for more than a decade, Hwang Min Hyun continues to seek change and works hard. To prepare for his first solo album “Truth or Lie” with “Hidden Side” as the track single, he prepared for it like a new artist by retaking vocal lessons.

Even in his acting career, Hwang Min Hyun shows how hard working he is, and always coming prepared for his roles. “There are a lot of scenes where I get hurt in part two of Alchemy of Souls and other important scenes so I thought there was no way I could go on like that and that I had to improve and I put in lots of effort,” he said.

Hwang Min Hyun is very much into photography. He has a dedicated Instagram account @optimus_sisun where he uploads photos he took from his travels, filming behind the scenes, and snaps from his daily life. 

“I want to be able to capture things better than with my phone, which isn’t quite enough,” he said during one of his lives.

Vlogger Hwang Min Hyun

Since last year, Hwang Min Hyun runs a Youtube channel where he vlogs a lot of random personal things, from behind the scenes of his current projects, vacations, and mundane days in his life. It’s his way of updating his fans, the “Hwangdo”. For his first upload, it was during the poster shoot for “Alchemy of Souls”, where he talked about the drama, his character Seo Youl, and his co-stars.

He also did a 6-part HWANG-log series on his Iceland vacation where he filmed everything he did to show to his fans how he is fulfilling an item on his bucket list. It just shows his sincerity and love for his fans.
