Pop punk and indie rock have come a long way and evolved into more inclusive and musically adventurous genres. Without a doubt, Virginia Beach natives TURNOVER are among the underground scene’s most prominent figures who have contributed to this transformation.
Fans in the Philippines are aware of this fact, which is why they will be ecstatic to learn that the band – vocalist Austin Getz, bassist Danny Dempsey, guitarist Nick Rayfield, and percussionist Casey Getz – will return to our shores as part of their Asia Tour 2023. Longtime followers and fans of underground music with dream-pop, shoegaze, and emo sensibilities know this event is tailored to their tastes.
The event will be presented by PULP LIVE WORLD and co-presented by Skesh Entertainment at the Skydome in SM City North Edsa. The gates will open at 6 p.m., and the show will begin at 8 p.m.
Turnover’s beginnings were primarily rooted with the release of their self-titled EP in 2011 and a split single release the following year with contemporaries Citizen – but like any other underground/indie rock band, found its true strength in performing live and touring, both with rising stars and established names on the scene, such as Angel Dust, Blind Justice, Turnstile, and New Found Glory. Turnover’s initial excursions were in the United States, but subsequent tours took them to the United Kingdom and Southeast Asia.
The band has released five full-length albums to date, including their 2013 emo/pop-punk-influenced debut Magnolia, 2015’s Peripheral Vision (which shifted to dream-pop…), 2017’s Good Nature (which Alternative Press cited as one of the year’s most anticipated albums…), 2019’s Altogether, and their most recent 2022 release, Myself In The Way.
