K-pop star Bang Yedam brings joy in Manila with his first fan meeting
Written by Eunice Pasquin
Korean artist Bang Yedam proved that he’s the ONLY ONE for Filo BY:Ds as he conquered the Philippine stage with his first Asia fan meeting “Be Your D..” in Manila last Saturday, June 1, at Samsung Hall, organized by HY LIVE and directed by John Prats.
The 22-year-old soloist was greeted with deafening cheer and overflowing love from his fans, showing him how much they missed him and how long they’d waited for this magical moment of meeting their favorite K-pop idol.
Major spoilers and revelations
Prior to his fan meeting, Yedam held a press conference and a fan signing event with his lucky fans who won the raffle benefits. He admitted that he was amazed by his fans’ warm welcome.
“I was actually looking forward to receive a lot of love and energy from you guys and passion and I’m very happy that I’m already receiving it right now,” he said through an interpreter, which made BY:Ds scream louder. He then responded with “Mahal ko kayo.”
When asked if it was his first time visiting the Philippines, he revealed that he had already gone here once when he was still at his mother’s side, but this was his first official trip to the country.
Yedam also revealed that he listened to Filipino singer Morissette Amon after watching a clip of her covering a Korean song. He said he’d be honored to collaborate with her if given a chance.
The fans also suggested P-pop girl group BINI and a snippet of their hit song “Pantropiko” was played. “There’s a good harmony my fans would like. That would be great for me, actually!” The K-pop artist commented.
For the food that he wanted to try in the Philippines, he picked the famous Filipino fast-food chain Jollibee as recommended by his friends.
Spoilers ahead, BY:Ds!
Although it’s not for him, a new song will drop soon!
“I cannot release it in detail, but a song I participated in will be released on June 11,” Yedam revealed.
But don’t worry! He also teased the fans that he would be releasing new music in no time.
“I’m preparing my comeback recently so the album that I’m preparing will be released in few months so please look forward to it,” the singer said.
Following the press conference, BY:Ds lined up for the fan signing event.
FUN meeting
The K-pop idol kicked off the show with his co-written and co-produced songs “Miss You” and “Only One.” When asked why he has chosen these two songs to perform, Yedam said he misses BY:Ds so much, and because “Only One” is the title of his album.
Making the night even more emotional and special, Yedam sang his heartfelt renditions of New West’s “Hate That I Love You” and ILLIT’s Magnetic while playing the keyboard.
It’s all FANS and games
Spicing things up, the Korean singer invited several fans on stage to give signed official posters and shirts, take photos, and interact with them.
In his “Dreams Come True” segment, Yedam read and granted some of his fans’ messages and requests written on post-it notes. He sang “Maligayang Bati” as a gift to BY:Ds born in June and even took a selfie with a lucky fan!
He also played “Doppelgänger” with his fans in which they tried to predict which pose Yedam would do with the given keywords flashed on the screen. In a sea of green, he spotted two best-dressed BY:Ds and signed shirts for them on stage.
Unforgettable experience
After almost seven years since his cover of this song went viral, Yedam once again performed Shawn Mendes’ “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back,” making his fans feel nostalgic. He then hyped the crowd with his version of RIIZE’s “Get a Guitar.”
Of course, the night won’t end without a surprise from BY:Ds! Yedam was given a cake, a fanmade video, and a lot of love, which undeniably made him happy!
The K-pop artist closed the show with his song “Hebeolle” and a cover of Frankie Valli’s “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.”
But wait, there’s more! Yedam came back to the stage for the encore and performed the acoustic version of “Come To Me” and “Not At All.”
The show was followed with fan benefits, including hi-bye for all, hi-touch for 😀 Zone ticket holders, and a group photo with Yedam for the lucky winners.
It was indeed a night to remember for BY:Ds and Yedam!
