Philippines Named Asia’s Top Beach And Dive Destination Anew In 2021 World Travel Awards
At the 28th World Travel Awards, the Philippines Department of Tourism (PDOT) announced that the Philippines had again been named Asia’s leading beach destination and dive destination.
“We are overjoyed that the country’s beautiful beaches and captivating dive destinations have been named the finest in Asia by the prestigious World Travel Awards in 2021.” Tourism Secretary Berna Romulo-Puyat said, “We share this award with our tourism stakeholders, local government units, partner organizations, and all Filipinos who have been helping us promote our country’s attractions, goods, and culture.”
The Philippines has been named Asia’s Leading Beach Destination for the fifth consecutive year and Asia’s Leading Dive Destination for the third time since 2019.
The Philippines is considered one of the leading candidates for the 28th World Travel Awards in the following categories:
- Philippines will be the world’s most popular beach destination in 2021.
- Philippines is the World’s Leading Dive Destination in 2021.
- Siargao, Philippines, will be the World’s Leading Island Destination in 2021.
- Intramuros, Philippines, is the World’s Leading Tourist Attraction for 2021.
- Philippines, Department of Tourism, is the World’s Leading Tourist Board in 2021.

The WTA’s mission is to recognize, reward, and celebrate excellence in the global travel and tourism business.
“This will help us maintain the Philippines as a top-of-mind destination for foreign tourists as we wait for international leisure travel to resume, in line with our worldwide campaign “More Fun Awaits,” said Puyat.
Some of the country’s most famous beach resorts, including Boracay in Aklan, Siargao in Surigao del Norte, and El Nido and Amanpulo in Palawan, have already opened to domestic visitors and are ready to welcome foreign visitors whenever international crossings reopen.
Furthermore, the PDOT has developed many of the country’s beach sites and new and current dive circuits and is continually looking for new dive tourist destinations. Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park in Palawan, Anilao in Batangas, Malapascua and Moalboal in Cebu, Balicasag, Panglao, and Anda in Bohol, and Puerto Galera in Oriental Mindoro are among the country’s best diving spots.
The Department also guarantees that visitor safety is a top priority by enforcing strict health regulations in sites that have opened their doors to visitors. Meanwhile, as of October 16, more than half of the country’s tourism employees, or 65.53 per cent, had their Covid-19 vaccinations.
