The Battle of Yultong: A Tale of Bravery
During the Korean War, the Battle of Yultong stands out as a significant episode of valor and sacrifice. In this fierce battle, 900 Filipino soldiers faced an overwhelming force of 40,000 Chinese troops.
Despite the odds, the Filipino soldiers, known as the “Fighting Filipinos” by the US Command, defended their positions with remarkable bravery. The battle resulted in only 12 Filipino casualties, while the Chinese forces suffered over 500 losses. This extraordinary defense helped to maintain the freedom and democracy that South Korea enjoys today.
