The anime adaptation of the award-winning manga series Tengoku Daimakyo (“Heavenly Delusion”) will premiere on Disney+ on April 1.

Based on the same-named series by Masakazu Ishiguro, Tengoku Daimakyo begins in the ruins of Tokyo 15 years after an unfathomable tragedy has brought the world to its knees. Kiruko is astonished to receive a cryptic request instructing her to “carry this child to Heaven” before the messenger dies. Kiruko and Maru embark on a quest for “Heaven” while evading “Hiruko” – a mysterious creature that pursues the remaining remnants of the human species – with almost little knowledge to guide them.

Production I.G. develops Tengoku Daimakyo, the masterminds behind Psycho-Pass and Ghost In The Shell, and stars Gen Satoas Maru, Sayaka Senbongi as Kiruko, and Hibiku Yamamura (Buddy Daddies, Akiba Meido Sensou) as Tokio.

As part of today’s presentation, two previously unseen artworks from the future series portraying Maru and Kiruko and a group of youngsters living in a lovely walled environment were also shared.

Today’s announcement is part of The Walt Disney Company’s expanded strategic relationship with prominent publishing company Kodansha and will launch on Disney+ on April 1, with new episodes released every Saturday. Lovers of Japanese anime may subscribe to Disney+ today to gain access to Tokyo Revengers: Christmas Showdown Arc, in which a reformed bad boy uses his accidentally obtained talents to travel back in time and prevent his high school girlfriend from being murdered, as well as endless hours of other world-class entertainment.

Disney+ will start streaming Tengoku Daimakyo on April 1.
