Where To Stay in Coron: Bacau Bay Resort Palawan

It’s summer, and it’s time to hit the beaches. And what better way than to visit one of the best beaches in the world which is Coron, Palawan! Coron is a renowned beach and island vacation in Palawan. The eastern half of Busuanga Island, Coron Island, and 50 smaller islets in the area, independent from the main Palawan island, make up this idyllic hideaway.

Many people have been drawn to it because of its World War II wreck diving sites, magnificent rock formations, and crystal clear seas. It’s also known as the quieter, more laid-back sibling of El Nido, another popular Palawan resort known for its beautiful waters and surroundings. When visiting the Philippines, Coron has a certain charm that you should add to your travel bucket list.

WHERE TO STAY IN CORON PALAWAN

DAY 1

There are many places to stay in Coron that cater to various budgets, from luxury resorts and hotels to backpacker-friendly hostels, so finding a place to call home won’t be difficult. In this case, we happened to stay at the famous BACAU BAY RESORT CORON.

Bacau Bay Resort is an excellent place to stay in Coron, located along the quiet bay and only a 5-minute drive from the town proper. It’s a 1.6-hectare complex with 80 opulent guest rooms, a lush garden and jogging path, and a full-service spa.

First and foremost, we wanted to laud the 5-Star Service and Hospitality. The staff was exceptionally kind and friendly, greeting us warmly and warmly. While checking into the resort, cool towels and a delicious Lemongrass drink were waiting for us. The staff was friendly and accommodating, sending our baggage to our rooms.

LUNCH

We had lunch at Amihan Restaurant where we tried the sweet-savory pasta, pizza, chicken wings, and fried lumpia. It offers ala carte meals. Their delectable group-sharing meals were provided to us. We were served two types of pizza: Four Cheese and Frutti de Mare (Seafood).  Bolognese pasta was perfectly seasoned to complement the pizzas’ robust flavor.

If you’re thirsty, we recommend their banana shakes and green smoothies. You will not be sorry!

The restaurant has an open-air terrace with plush cushioned rattan chairs and greenery. Located just above the pool and resort facilities, caters to all of the visitors’ meals. It also offers a diverse menu of foreign cuisine prepared with fresh, locally produced ingredients.

 

ROOMS

The Deluxe Rooms at Bacau Bay Resort Coron are one of the rooms that we can propose to visitors and travelers. The 35 sqm modern-oriental space is equipped with all of the necessities and is ideal for a perfect weekend getaway.

The LED TV, Alarm Clock with Speakers, Safety Deposit Box, Mini Refrigerator, Tea Perculator, and Espresso Machine are all included in the room.

The room has (2) two queen-sized beds and can accommodate three adults or two adults and two children. The most pleasing feature is the floor-to-ceiling windows that lead to a balcony with views of the harbor. It was the ideal setting to unwind after a long day at the beach.

The Pier Marina

One of the advantages of staying here in Bacau Bay Resort Coron is its own private port, which is convenient for guests going for Island Hopping. Along the way, there’s an Instagrammable boardwalk and the Serena Bar. The sunset sessions are simply unforgettable.

Serena Bar

The Pier Marina and Serena Bar are must-sees for visitors. Guests staying at Bacau Bay do not need to travel to Coron town to go on island tours. The resort has its marina and pier. You may relax and enjoy the tranquility of the sea and mangroves that flank the walkway.

On the first day, though, we enjoyed our welcome dinner: a fantastic, refreshing al fresco luau.

The evening began with a substantial bowl of bouillabaisse soup. Fresh fish, squid, and Kibao (Coron’s indigenous clam) were also on the menu. Then we drooled over Baby Back Ribs that fell off the bone, grilled veggies, Fresh-grilled Samaral fish, and shrimp kebabs.

DAY 2

BREAKFAST

Breakfast is the important meal of the day, and the Amihan restaurant’s Buffet Breakfast is offered from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.The menu isn’t as extensive as some others, but it’s very satisfying.

A salad bar, cereals, pancakes, baked bread, fresh fruits, cooked entrees, and an egg station will greet guests. Coffee, tea, and juice are all available as well!

CORON ISLAND HOPPING TOUR

Coron is a fantastic destination in the Philippines. Beautiful islands, stunning beaches, exotic lagoons, majestic jungles, and more abound in this town! This lovely place is for you if you adore the water and all of its residents.

One of the must-see destinations on the Coron Island Hopping Tour is the Twin Lagoons. The first lagoon is where the boats dock, while the second lagoon is hidden, accessible only through a small gap beneath the rock or a ladder over the rock during high tide.

TWIN LAGOON

KAYANGAN LAKE

We also visited Kayangan Lake, one of the cleanest lakes in the country. It’s known as The Blue Lagoon, and it’s encircled by tall limestone structures that give the region a secluded feel. In order to get here, you need to walk 200 steps back and forth so it’s 400 steps in total. It’s kinda hard especially if you’re not into trekking but it’s totally worth it. You may enjoy the view or go for a swim; the choice is yours!

BANUL BEACH

We had our lunch in Banul Beach prepared by the Bacau Bay Resort Coron staff. The food that they served are fresh and delicious! This beach is the usual destination for lunch stops on island tours in Coron. So we already expect a little crowd at that time.

CORAL GARDEN

Wreck diving in the waters of Coron is also a great way to see underwater antiquities from the 1940s. However, we couldn’t visit the Skeletal Wreck because it was almost sunset, so we went to Coral Garden for snorkeling and kayaking instead. This place is also known as the Reef Garden, where you can see beautiful, healthy corals and rich sea life. I decided to go snorkeling since I love diving. Hopefully, soon, I can be able to explore the massive Japanese shipwreck here in Coron.

Bacau Bay Resort Coron offers a Coron town tour, reefs and wreck tour, and island escapade tour. We choose to visit the Island tour which is Twin Lagoon, Barracuda Lake, Banul Beach, Coral Garden and Kayangan Lake.

DINNER

Amihan Restaurant of Bacau Bay Resort Coron is probably known for its romantic dinners. It s transformed into a romantic dining and chilling spot. We had a four-course supper on the terrace and we were able to try the SURF and TURF. It’s an entire lobster baked in a big pile of garlic and cheese, served alongside a succulent steak piece.

DAY 3

It’s our last day in Coron so I decided to wake up early and I discovered even more reasons to arrange another stay at this lovely eco-friendly resort in Busuanga!

There is a swimming pool, a gym, a spa, and recreational facilities. The Bacau Bay Resort boasts a relaxing pool area with three depths: a 4-foot-deep main pool, a 2-foot-deep kiddie pool, and a 7-foot dive pool.

Couples can also share the adjoining swings that surround the garden. Showers are on the side, beach towels are provided, and daybeds are available.

The gym is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and is quite complete despite its small size. It includes a full-weight rack, and gym mats. Aside from that it has fitness machines such as a rowing machine, elliptical, and treadmill. There’s also a TRX and a water station on the side.

Yoga sessions are held regularly in the garden during peak seasons when occupancy is high. The stand-up paddleboards, kayaks, and badminton will appeal to adrenaline addicts and non-adrenaline junkies.

Bacau Bay’s full-service spa is also available to guests. Hot stone massages, Swedish massages, and Thai massages are among the services offered. We had the Php 800.00 combination massage, which was fantastic! Your massage therapists inquired about your preferred pressure points and massage oil aroma. The massage was quite pleasant, and the spa is available every day!

Before we check-out I also noticed this place. I thought it was a mini-church but when I asked the staff I found out it was actually a comfort room!

Overall we had the perfect island getaway experience on one of the most beautiful beaches in the country, if not the world. We would highly recommend this Bacau Bay Resort Coron to all local and international travelers out there. You won’t regret it!
