DISNEY+ Announces Exciting Guest Stars For Original Series “AMERICAN BORN CHINESE”
The Disney+ Original series “American Born Chinese,” a genre-hopping action-comedy based on Gene Luen-comic Yang’s novel of the same name, has just published a new teaser introducing its stellar guest cast. The series, created by Disney Branded Television and produced by 20th Television, premieres on Disney+ this spring.
SYPNOSIS:
“American Born Chinese” depicts the narrative of Jin Wang, an average high school student balancing his social life and family obligations. Even more, worlds clash when he meets a new international student on the first day of school, and Jin unknowingly engages in a war between Chinese mythological gods.
CAST:
The coming-of-age adventure boasts an international all-star cast, including Academy® Award-Nominees & Golden Globe winners Michelle Yeoh & Ke Huy Quan for (“Everything Everywhere All at Once”), Ben Wang (“Chang Can Dunk”)
2-time International Emmy® Award nominee Yeo Yann Yann (for “Wet Season”), Chin Han for (“Mortal Kombat”), Daniel Wu (“The Great Wall”), and Chin Han (“Wet Season”), among others (“Recollections”), former Taekwondo world champion Jimmy Liu and Sydney Taylor (“Just Add Magic”).
Ronny Chieng as unconventional monk Ji Gong and Jimmy O. Yang as Dragon King, along with Ao Guang; James Hong as the Jade Emperor; & Leonard Wu as Niu Mowang/Bull Demon will introduce audiences to many iconic Chinese mythical characters. They will join previously announced guest stars Academy® Award nominee Stephanie Hsu as Shiji Niangniang in the Goddess of Stones, & Poppy Liu as Princess Iron Fan. Lisa Lu plays the soon-to-be-retired acupuncturist Ni Yang, and Rosalie Chiang portrays the student activist Suzy Nakamura.
Kelvin Yu (“Bob’s Burgers,” “Central Park”), a writer/producer who has won an Emmy® Award, acts as executive producer & showrunner. Destin Daniel Cretton (Marvel’s “Shang-Chi & the Legend of the Ten Rings,” “Short Term 12”) is also set to direct & serve as executive producer, along with Melvin Mar and Jake Kasdan (“Doogie Kamealoha, M.D.,” “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” & “Jumanji: The Next Level”), and Erin O’Malley (“Doogie Kamealoha, M.D. “
