K-pop Group ENHYPEN drops cover of BTS’ ‘I Need U’ for Spotify K-Pop ON! (온)

K-pop group ENHYPEN has released their latest album, Spotify K-Pop ON! Single (온) features a soulful interpretation of BTS‘ “I NEED U”. Produced and distributed as part of Spotify’s K-Pop ON (온) First Crush campaign, the song is the first of three Spotify-exclusive versions by a remarkable line-up of K-Pop singers, each paying respect to the sunbaes (senior artists) that kindled their passion for the genre.

Spotify’s K-Pop ON! is more than just an homage to the beginning of every K-Pop fan’s journey into the genre, which began with the first K-Pop artist who captivated them with their artistry and flare. (온) The First Crush campaign encourages fans worldwide to unite around their love for K-Pop music and the singers that started it all.

As part of K-Pop ON’s anniversary celebration, the campaign was launched! Spotify’s global K-Pop playlist (On) gives listeners a platform to discover the best tracks from the genre. The flagship playlist has racked up billions of streams for Korean artists since it was launched in 2014. Over 5.3 million Spotify users have “saved” the playlist since it was launched in 2014.

ENHYPEN’s cover of “I NEED U” adds an Afro-rhythm twist by using mellow acoustic instrumentals instead of the original version electronic synth sounds. While offering a more calm rendition of the track, the members’ performances convey the feelings expressed in the lyrics with sincerity and highlight the group’s distinct color and charm.

(온) will take listeners behind the scenes for a glimpse inside the making of ENHYPEN’s rendition of “I NEED U”.
