Netflix has announced the production of The Trunk, a mystery series starring Seo Hyun-jin and Gong Yoo, two of Korea’s most prominent actors. After a mysterious container is discovered at the bottom of a lake, a whirlwind of unanticipated events and secrets ensue.
Seo Hyun-jin, well-known for her transformative roles in Another Miss Oh and The Beauty Within, will portray In-ji, an employee of the enticing matchmaking agency NM. Gong Yoo, known for his roles in Guardian: The Lonely and Great God and Train to Busan, as well as Netflix’s Squid Game & The Silent Sea, will play Jeong-won, a solitary music producer who unexpectedly enters into a marriage contract with In-ji.
Jeong-won meets his “second wife,” In-ji, through a marriage service organized by his ex-wife Seo-Yeon. Nonetheless, their lives take an unexpected turn when an enigmatic trunk discovered in a lake propels them into a whirlwind of secrets and events surrounding the matchmaking service.
The Trunk, written by Park Eun-young of Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth and directed by Kim Gyu-tae, renowned for his work in Our Blues, is expected to garner attention for its novel plot and the ideal pairing of Seo Hyun-jin and Gong Yoo. The premiere of The Trunk will be exclusive to Netflix.
