Emo is alive and well! On September 12, 2024, Manila was electric as The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus live in Manila, one of the most anticipated concerts of the year, took place at the SM North EDSA Skydome. Over the years, the American post-hardcore/emo band Red Jumpsuit Apparatus has developed a devoted fan base in the Philippines. Lead singer Ronnie Winter greeted the Pinoy emo crowd, “We are happy to be back with you here tonight. Take you back to the year 2006”.

When The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus eventually took the stage, the excitement peaked. The moment they launched into their hit song “False Pretense,” the audience went wild. For many, it was an emotional event because this song has been ingrained in their hearts for almost 20 years.

The band played many of their memorable hits, but Ronnie Winter shared a little trivia about the band and himself. He said, ” Did you know how much we loved the Philippines? So much! Maybe you do know or not know. But I’m married to a (half) Filipina.”

The band played many of their hit singles including “Your Guardian Angel” but they band decided to add one song to their setlist that was not part of their Asian tour.

Ronnie Winter stated, “We have this song that has been requested almost 10 times. This one is called “Pen and Paper,”  and the crowd went wild. The band also played a game where they gave out money to two fans who could guess their songs.

The show ended the night with Ronnie Winter stating, “I’m 41 years old, but the hair is still long,” pointing to his hair”. The band decided to play a hit song from one of their favorite bands in the 2000 era with Blink 182: All The Small Things, which got the entire crowd jumping for more.
