The Cheongun Literature Library is in a hanok on Mt. Inwang. It is peaceful and has a lot of atmosphere. Cheongun Park, the Yun Dongju Literature Museum, and the Bukhansan Dulle-gil Trail are all close to the library.

If you’ve spent hours reading, you might want to go for a walk on Bukhansan Dulle-gil Trail. The traditional hanok stone walls and the evergreens will make you forget that you are in one of the biggest cities currently in the world.

The Chungwoon Literature Library is in Chungwoon-dong, just northwest of Gyeongbokgung Palace. It is close to the Yun Dong-ju Literature House and Yun Dong-ju Hill.

Its name suggests that it only has poetry, novels, and essays. It has more than 8,000 editions of these types of books. The number of books in the collection could reach 20,000.

The Chungwoon Literature Library is a 734-square-meter building with a basement on a 1,235-square-meter piece of land. Most of the roof tiles were brought from the Donuimun redevelopment zone to be used again. Traditional tiles made by hand were used for the rest of the roof.

The first floor of the library will be used as a meeting room, and the basement will host a wide range of exhibitions. The buildings are staggered, with a modern library on the lower slope of the hill and two traditional “Korean houses,” or Hanok, on the upper level behind it. The Hanok is an architectural style from the Joseon Dynasty in the 14th century.

The modern building houses the facilities, a small café, access services, library materials, a children’s area, a lecture room, and a lot of seating with a view of a small bamboo garden. The collection is mostly about Korean literature, but it also has works from other parts of the world.

The upper floor of the Cheongun Literature Library is outside the Hanok. It is a quieter place to read, study, make art, or just relax. The main library building can reach it, stairs outside, and a path from a second parking lot higher up on the main road behind the Hanok.

During Spring, you can enjoy the beauty of the area’s lush greenery, a waterfall that flows steadily, a beautiful view of the foothills of Inwangsan, and a unique Korean sunset. Behind the Hanok, higher up the mountain, there are many famous hiking trails, a park, a literature museum, and historical sites.

Inside the Hanok, there are “reading rooms” with power outlets, comfortable floor seating with cushions and low tables, modern ondol heated floors used in the winter, and Wi-Fi!

If you go further up behind the Hanok, you can see a beautiful aerial view of the Hanok, the lush forest, and the skyscrapers from the heart of downtown Seoul, which are not too far away.
