Korean Hit “I, the Executioner” Crosses 3 Million Viewers in Five Days
In just five days since its release, “I, the Executioner” (also known as “Veteran 2”) has taken the Korean box office by storm, officially crossing the 3 million viewer mark. According to the Korean Film Council, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2015 hit Veteran reached an impressive total of 3,151,465 moviegoers by September 17.
The action-packed sequel, featuring stars Hwang Jung Min, Jung Hae In, Jang Yoon Joo, Ahn Bo Hyun, and Shin Seung Hwan, has already outpaced the success of major blockbusters like Exhuma and 12.12: The Day. Both of these films took longer to reach the 3 million milestone, with Exhuma taking seven days and 12.12: The Day requiring ten. Notably, “I, the Executioner” now shares the same record as The Roundup, another box office giant that also hit the 10 million viewer milestone.
The film’s remarkable performance is a testament to the excitement surrounding director Ryoo Seung Wan’s return to the Veteran universe. As the movie continues its meteoric rise, the cast and crew took a moment to express their gratitude to the fans. They shared celebratory photos and a heartfelt video, thanking audiences for their overwhelming support.
With such a strong start, “I, the Executioner” is well on its way to becoming one of Korea’s biggest box office hits of the year. Congratulations to the cast, crew, and all involved in making this sequel a success! Fans are eagerly watching to see if it will break even more records in the weeks to come.
