Ben&Ben Will Release A Song Inspired By A Painful Story Told By A Fan

Ben&Ben, a multi-award-winning Filipino band, will release their new single, “Lifetime,” on June 4 (Thursday) through Sony Music.
The meticulously crafted folk-pop ballad was composed in response to a fan’s YouTube comment on their hit song “Pagtingin,” which has over a hundred million YouTube and Spotify listens to date.
The fan, who goes by the handle “Anne Jou,” told how she regretted not being able to communicate her sentiments because she was terrified of losing the friendship.
“…rather of telling him how I really felt, I hid and buried my emotions. And do you know what happens to buried feelings? They develop. My admiration for him grew into love. Poems and music were written by me. I went to his wedding [last] January after an eight-year absence. What’s more, guess what? The world is incredibly nasty. He thanked me for being his best friend before his wedding and told me that he loved me first before he met the girl he married. For the past five years. However, he was also afraid of losing me, so he chose to keep it. I was taken aback and felt a smidgeon of rage toward the universe. We had no idea that if just one of us dared to walk, a lifetime lay ahead of us. So, while you have the opportunity, please explain how you truly feel so that you will not regret anything in the end.”
The nine-piece band decided to write a song inspired by a fan’s online confession, demonstrating how powerful and emotional words can be when said with sincerity and raw honesty.
Despite the pandemic’s technical limits and recording difficulties, Ben&Ben finished the song in just a few days in their own houses, using only their instruments and studio software.
The result of the personal recording session is “Lifetime,” an extremely moving song that makes us wonder what may have occurred if we had the bravery to confess our love to the person we lust after, regardless of the outcome.
JP Verona, an experienced sound engineer, mixed “Lifetime,” and Leon Zervos, a Grammy Award-winning mastering engineer, mastered it (Pink, Rihanna, Maroon 5, Beastie Boys, and Willie Nelson). Miguel Benjamin and Paolo Benjamin wrote it, and Ben&Ben recorded and produced it.
On June 4, Ben&Ben’s “Lifetime” will be available on all digital platforms globally (12 midnight, Thursday).
