Gulf Kanawut, Thai actor-model and well-known TV personality, took Manila by storm by making his first-ever solo fan meet in Manila last October 2, 2022, at New Frontier Theatre, treating his Filo PhiBalls a night they won’t ever forget. After three years, he returned to the Philippine stage to give his fans “kilig” moments.
Kanawut Traipipattanapong, also known by his screen name “Gulf Kanawut”, rose to stardom when he portrayed “Type”, the other half of “Tharn” from the concluded three-part series “Tharn-Type”. When the series ended, he had a lot of work lined up for him that made him even more popular nowadays.
Gulf serenades Filo Philballs
Gulf prepared a number of songs for his fans. He set the mood of his fan meeting by making the stage on fire with his first song, “Why So Serious”. A rapping Gulf Kanawut, what would be more awesome than that? He also sang the popular songs of his Drama Series Tharn-Type, “Hold Me Tight” (Kor Kae Tur ขอแค่เธอ) and “Be Mine” (Mi Yaum ไมยอม) which made his fans reminisce the feels of his drama when it was airing.
He also made a spectacular rendition of the songs “Railhead” by K6Y and “Love Yourself” by Justin Bieber. He hit the heart of his PhiBalls when he came out wearing a “Barong Tagalog”, a traditional Filipino formal shirt and sang his finale song “, My Home”. Everybody agreed that he looked so handsome in it.
Gulf wants to work with Sarah Geronimo
Filo Phiballs got to know “Gulf” in the series of activities Pulp prepared for him, of course with the ever-energetic and vibrant Kring Kim as the fan meets host. Kring asked questions that Gulf answered enthusiastically. When asked about a Filipino artist he wants to work with, he answered: “Sarah Geronimo,” which gave the host a chance to ask him to dance to “Tala”, which was popularized by Sarah G. herself, a cute Kanawut dancing to “Tala” is a sight to behold.
Well, a fan meet will not be complete without Filipino phrases which Gulf happily delivered. Among the phrases he guessed the meaning right are, “mahal,” “kailangan kita,” “aalagaan kita,” and “ikaw lang, sapat na,” and “sa ‘yo lang ako.” How do you think that would sound as your morning alarm?
The Thai actor showcased his acting prowess by re-enacting some iconic lines from this generation’s two most popular Filipino films. Who would ever forget Popoy’s “She had me at my worst. You had me at my best.”? Gulf Kanawut version is swoon-worthy!
The game “Last Fan Standing” showed that fans near and far came to see Gulf no matter the distance. Three lucky fans from Paranaque, Iligan, and yes, Japan won a signed polaroid and flowers from Gulf himself.
Gulf thanks everyone and wishing he can meet his fans again
When the time came to an end the show, Gulf got to thank everyone who came to be with him on his very first solo fan meeting. He wishes to meet his fans once again and promises to be the best for them. Filo PhiBalls are grateful to Happee and Pulp World for bringing Gulf Kanawut to Manila and giving them a chance to be with their Prince for two hours of non-stop fun and memorable moments.
