One of the historical sites that you must visit is Gyeongsanggamyeong Park. Located in central Daegu, was built in the 34th year of King Seonjo of the Joseon Dynasty (1601), and it’s also the original location of Gyeongsanggamyeong (1910), the office of the Gyeongsangbuk-do governor. In 1965, the park reopened to the public under Central Park and relocated the provincial office. The park was renamed Gyeongsanggamyeong Park in 1997 and has remained so ever since.
The admission is FREE while the parking is 1,000 won for the first 30 min / 500 won for each additional 10 min / One-day parking 10,000 won. This park also features a green forest, beautiful flowers, clean, wide, grassy lawns, a fountain, peaceful walks, and numerous benches. In fact, it’s suitable for everyone, a good place for senior citizens to rest and a resting place to relieve fatigue and stress caused by the complicated urban life.
The park also contains many cultural and historical relics, including the Seonhwa-dang building, where the governor worked. The Jungcheong-gak building, one of the governor’s residences, and the Seonjeong-bi gravestone are engraved with the governor’s achievements. It is one of the remaining government buildings. The Seonhwa-dang building has historical significance as well.
Citizens enjoy the park’s green forest, beautiful flowers, well-developed grass plaza, scenic fountain area, and comfortable walking paths.
