American emo act Hawthorne Heights staged its long-awaited Manila debut on May 6, 2026, mounting a headline set at the SM North EDSA Skydome as part of its Lonely World Tour. The date marked the band’s first performance in the Philippines and coincided with the 20th anniversary of If Only You Were Lonely, its RIAA Gold-certified and highest-charting release.

The program centered on material from the anniversary album alongside key catalog cuts. Attendees delivered sustained singalongs to “Saying Sorry,” “Pens and Needles,” and “Niki FM.” “Ohio Is for Lovers” closed the set to peak audience response, with crowd vocals carrying through the chorus.

Frontman JT Woodruff addressed the audience briefly, noting his anticipation to perform in the country and underscoring emo’s role in the band’s identity. The touring format anchored the setlist around the anniversary record while maintaining a steady pace between songs.

The Manila stop extends the group’s Southeast Asia run and signals continued international demand for the band’s mid-2000s catalog. Two decades on, If Only You Were Lonely continues to draw multi-generational audiences in new markets.

We know they opened the show with “This is Who We Are” carrying the chorus

“I know it seems like we’re never coming back
I know it feels like we’re never coming back…”

But we sure are optimistic and abuzz for their future return.
