Press Release
The Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony At The Manila Hotel

The Manila Hotel inaugurates the holiday season on November 9 with a jubilant celebration infused with Filipino customs: the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony.

The central attraction of the celebrations was the magnificent Christmas Tree, which was tastefully embellished with lavish golden Ilang-Ilang blossoms, an homage to the official flower of the Grand Dame. The visually captivating exhibition was achieved through the harmonized combination of gold, natural tones, and vibrant red in the color scheme, which captured the season’s essence. The holiday décor was conceived and implemented under Mr. Rachy Cuna, the Creative & Design Director of The Manila Hotel.
The event was attended by guests such as Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta, President Atty. Joey Lina, Vice Chairman Dr. Emilio Yap III of The Manila Hotel, and City of Manila Mayor Maria Sheilah “Honey” Lacuna Pangan and City of Manila Vice Mayor John Marvin “Yul Servo” Nieto. Sharlene Zabala-Batin, Regional Director of the (DOT) Department of Tourism NCR, H.E. Mary Kay Carlson of the United States, and Folakemi Akin, Ambassador of Nigeria, were in attendance. The Office of the President Chorale enhanced the jubilant atmosphere by performing traditional Christmas melodies for the audience.
The Manila Hotel Director of Sales and Marketing Marvin Kim Tan stated,
“As we strive to be a part of every family’s Christmas celebration, may our lit Christmas tree serve as a symbol of the hotel’s dedication to encapsulating the essence of Filipino traditions during this holiday season.”
Moreover, The Manila Hotel has designated the House of Refuge as the recipient of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) endeavors, to promote altruism and reciprocity. The House of Refuge is an interim shelter that provides street children with the bare necessities.
As the Christmas tree illuminates the Grand Lobby, The Manila Hotel remains committed to perpetuating the festive atmosphere and safeguarding the essence of Filipino customs throughout the celebratory period.
