Concert Recap
South Korean “Ballad Prince” Lee Seung Gi serenades PH Airens with his powerful vocals during his solo concert in Manila
Hours after his press conference in Taguig, Lee Seung Gi held his first concert at the New Frontier Theater. The show had begun with an opening VCR of the singer’s debut days to the present until Lee Seung Gi entered the stage to perform “The Dreamer’s Dream“, “Wind“, and “Return.”
With all the overwhelming cheers from the crowd, Lee Seung Gi felt ecstatic to perform more for the Filipino Airens. He expressed, “As I was singing, I felt like I was singing a rock.“
It’s not only him who gained energy from the fans, but also his band. According to the singer, his band played exceptionally well that night. Lee Seung Gi added, “The Philippines is the best!“
As part of his 20th-anniversary album next year, he also asked his fans to look forward to the new album he is working on in collaboration with his seniors, juniors, and producers. He wanted to work with the people he met in his career because the past 19 years hold so many memories.
The singer sang his tracks “Ordinary Woman,” “Forest,” “Circle,” and “Like A Flower.” Additionally, he performed an unreleased song that surprised the Filipino Airens.
Lee Seung Gi shared that he showed different sides of himself in each song through the seasons—spring, summer, autumn, and winter. He enjoyed the flexibility of a concert, as there was an opportunity to communicate with the fans and change the setlist.
During the segment, Lee Seung Gi expressed his dream of a world tour and another concert in the Philippines. He exclaimed, “Of course. I’ll come back to the Philippines!“
The actor also mentioned that he’s interested in filming a variety show in the Philippines.
Among the other tracks he performed were “Like A Flower“, “Desire and Hope“, and “Delete.” Fortunately, Filipino Airens got to hear Lee Seung Gi perform the hit OST “Losing My Mind” from his popular drama ‘My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho‘ in 2010, as requested by the fans. The crowd went loud and wild as they danced to the music as nostalgia hit.
Lee Seung Gi said it felt like a marathon and that he’ll bring more rock songs when he returns to the Philippines.
The singer didn’t fail to surprise the audience once again with a short medley of the 90s song,
Forbidden Love by the award-winning Kim Kyung Ho Although it wasn’t part of the setlist, he dedicated the remake of this 90s rock to his fans, as they loved the episode from his variety show “Master’s in the House.”
After showcasing the power of his vocal range in reaching the high notes, he continued to sing another popular 90s song by Kim Kwang Seok, “Though I Loved You.”
Before saying goodbye, he performed “Music Time,” “Encore,” and his most-awaited debut song, “Because You’re My Woman.”
For most ticket holders, the concert concluded with a goodbye session. The MVP section had the chance to receive the present personally handed to them by Lee Seung Gi. Lee Seung Gi joined other fortunate winners in posing for a group photograph.
