Waterbomb LA Festival Postponed Due to Operational Challenges
Waterbomb LA, a highly anticipated K-pop festival, has been postponed due to operational challenges, as confirmed by the organizers.
Originally set to take place on September 28 and 29 at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California, Waterbomb LA was meant to mark the festival’s first edition in Los Angeles. The event boasted a stellar line-up featuring a mix of K-pop, K-hip-hop, and EDM artists, including Chung Ha, K.will, Lovelyz’s Ryu Su-jeong, ATEEZ, MAMAMOO’s Hwasa, Simon Dominic, BIG Naughty, GRAY, and others.
However, in a statement released on social media, Waterbomb LA’s organizers announced the festival’s postponement due to “operational challenges.” They assured ticket holders that refunds will be processed within 30 days.
The announcement comes just a month after Waterbomb LA responded to community feedback by cutting ticket prices for all tiers. Initially, the festival had set higher prices to cover expenses related to flights, accommodation, security, and transportation for the artists while aiming for a reasonable profit. However, after facing backlash from K-pop fans, the organizers decided to lower the ticket prices.
“We recognize that this has become a burden for our fans,” the organizers explained in their statement. “Therefore, we have decided to adjust the prices, prioritizing the event over profit, in order to reduce the burden on our customers.”
The Los Angeles edition is not the only one facing challenges. Last week, Waterbomb Taipei festival was also canceled due to unstable weather conditions. Originally scheduled for September 14 and 15, the event was called off due to the risk posed by typhoons, which are common in Taiwan during September. Organizers cited concerns for the safety of both attendees and performers as the primary reason for the cancellation.
