DISNEY+ debuts official trailer of the action-comedy series “American Born Chinese”

Series Premieres with All Episodes on May 24, only on Disney+

Disney+ unveiled the official trailer for the forthcoming Original series “American Born Chinese.” The genre-hopping action-comedy series debuts on Disney+ on May 24 with all eight episodes. The television series Disney Branded is produced by 20th Television. 

Based on Gene Luen Yang’s graphic novel of the same name, “American Born Chinese” tells the story of a regular American teenager whose life is irrevocably altered when he befriends the son of a mythical deity. This is the tale of a young man’s struggle for identity, conveyed through family, comedy, and Kung Fu action.

The international all-star cast includes:

• Academy® Award winners Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan 
• Ben Wang 
• International Emmy Award nominee Yeo Yann Yann
• Chin Han: Mortal Kombat
• Daniel Wu: Reminiscences
• Former Taekwondo champions Jimmy Liu and Sydney Taylor (“Just Add Water”). 

AcademyAward nominee Stephanie Hsu as Shiji Niangniang, the Goddess of Stones; Ronny Chieng as an unconventional monk, Ji Gong; James Hong as Jade Emperor; Jimmy O. Yang as Dragon King, Poppy Liu as Princess Iron Fan Ao Guang; Leonard Wu as Niu Mowang/Bull Demon; and introduce audiences to a pantheon of iconic Chinese mythical characters. Lisa Lu plays the soon-to-be-retired acupuncturist Ni Yang, and Rosalie Chiang portrays the student activist Suzy Nakamura. 

Kelvin Yu , a writer/producer who has won an Emmy® Award, serves as executive producer and showrunner. Destin Daniel Cretton is set to direct & serve as executive producer, along with Melvin Mar and Jake Kasdan , Erin O’Malley
