E-Learning With PLDT Enterprise
The Lasallian Associate Partners of De La Salle Lipa in Batangas recently received 665 units of pocket WiFi devices with Smart GIGA Study plans from PLDT Enterprise, the country’s top ICT and digital services supplier.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the SMART pocket WiFi gadgets will supplement the school’s “BorderFree Education” system by linking teachers and students online.
The Giga Study plans from SMART are specially designed prepaid packages aimed solely at academics. Daily data allowances for online learning tools are included in the Giga Study, which are critical in today’s new normal of learning. It also offers open data allocations, allowing both students and faculty members to gain access to information critical to their growing online demands.
“We haven’t ceased teaching,” says the narrator. We had around 15 kilometers of fiber optic cable on the entire campus before March 15, which connected all of our classes in a Local Area Network. As a result, we were prepared for this situation. We’re extending our virtual infrastructure beyond the physical campus and into the homes of our teachers with the help of PLDT. As a result, De La Salle Lipa’s Chief of Strategic Services, Ms. Dfezie Torres-Tipan, coined the term “BorderFree Education.”
Over 9,000 pupils are enrolled at the school, which employs roughly 800 academic and administrative employees. The strengthened relationship with PLDT Enterprise provides the essential connectivity for instructors to undertake educational activities for the benefit of their students studying safely at home.
“In the future, we intend to strengthen this solid cooperation by offering De La Salle Lipa students with better internet connectivity at home.” “Our students, instructors, and staff may work from home and use our digital educational infrastructure,” Tipana continued.
This initiative is just one of PLDT’s ongoing initiatives to help schools like De La Salle Lipa use technology to help students learn even when they are at home.
“Not just for us in PLDT, but for the entire MVP Group of companies, our stance with the government to help combat this current crisis and cope with the guidelines of quarantine has been the echoing mandate,” said ePLDT President & CEO and SVP & Head of PLDT and Smart Enterprise Business Groups Jovy I. Hernandez.
“We intend to expand our relationships with other schools and academic institutions to make e-learning the catalyst for elevating our education system to the next level of learning,” he added.
